One year or two years … it probably does not matter with Moore. He has been at three high schools and three colleges over the last 7 years. Does that sound like a player who is going to be loyal for two seasons? At this point my mindset is WTF. This is how players are taking advantage of the new rules — good for them. Most of us would do the same thing. It’s like job-hopping to chase a few extra grand. Welcome to 2024. We get a decent player — good for us — for one year because there is really no better option or plan. We cannot sell kids on our “player development” track record. Not when there are dollars at stake and an easy-out option. It is up to Schmidt to adjust his style/playbook to accommodate and take advantage of guys like Moore who will be here for one year. Hopefully our young guys (Kaba, Rose, Thompson, etc) will be loyal for a couple years, but none of us know. Schmidt cannot ensure that either. I’m sure he thought Assa and Barry were keepers. I certainly did. I don’t like the new reality. It is difficult to get emotionally invested in these guys and the program we all love. Last season was the perfect example and likely a good predictor of the future. It is what it is … you try to get talented players who will be at SBU for one season, and hope to make it work. Glad to have our first transfer committed. Hate how this all looks and feels. Bigcat, I feel your pain. Last year we saw an example of the problems bringing in players for one year can give a program. When I see Luc join Longwood I am more concerned. The NIL is a killer for schools like Bonas. Fan loyalty will be tested in this environment. At least some of us have the memories of the Lanier era.

All we are saying, is give Moore a Chance! I wonder if above is in response to my concerns with Chance Moore’s 3 point shooting. I try to give a positive, but balance critique of a player, which I thought I gave in my post. I think Chance is a solid addition with the ability to develop into a Chuck Pride type of player. Chance Moore and Chuck Pride scoring averages are very close to being the same, but Chance has a much wider variance in his scoring. — Chance had 5 games scoring 20+ points. Two of these games occurred against 2 of the best teams on Missouri State’s schedule (W. Virginia and Belmont). He also scored 16 against St. Mary’s (by far best team on their schedule) and 18 in 2nd game against Belmont. In comparison Chuck Pride had just 3 games scoring 20+ points. — Chance had 11 games scoring less than 5 points, while Chuck had just 5 games. Looking at their stats and watching videos, I feel Chance and Chuck have similar games. Chuck was a critical part of the Bonnies, which is reflected by him having 2nd most PT per game on the team. Chuck was a popular option with Bonnies needing a basket at end of the game. Could count on Chuck making the right choice with the basketball. He was a leader with a high basketball IQ. Chuck’s basketball IQ would never allow him to attempt so many 3 pointers when he is making just 29.5% from 3s. Chance has a similar game to Chuck, but can he develop Chuck’s basketball IQ? I hope so.

At least the one year players they brought in didn’t have problematic family members No, One of them brought problems all by himself. LOL>. Ugh. family always think the player is better than he really is. That's with almost any player with parents.

These anonymous stories about him being sooooo difficult and such a problem are not going to have me think less of the kid. There have been far worse locker room problems that are well known.

This thread is about Chance and the wonderful things he is going to bring to this team. Welcome, Chance, and thanks for being the first to take the leap and commit to next year’s squad!

Gotta respectfully disagree that Chance will play a role similar to Chuck Pride last year. I expect him to be used much more as an inside player, including slashing to the hoop whenever he gets the ball on the perimeter instead of putting up threes. He reminds me more of one of my favorite Bonnies, Rashad Palmer, with that lightening first step and ability to score at the rim through contact. It might be wishful thinking but I am still hopeful that our three point scoring will come from Kaba or someone still to be signed who is more of a natural sharpshooter. Of course I would be thrilled if he can add ten percent to his three point shooting and while he is at it, maybe 25 or 30 percent to his foul shooting. Not too much to ask, is it?

Unless someone else has left that I didn't hear about I count 6 players already. Thompson,Rose, Martinez, Brown, Kaba & Moore.I've seen coach Schmidt in Perkins the last two days and he had 5 recruits with him.
