The a 10 is a superior league but its top teams keep leaving, apparently it’s not superior enough to actually remain in. Dayton, VCU and Bonas (yes, we’ve been one of the best teams in the league for a decade despite what this board would make you think) are in and not leaving (despite what their fanbases say). The last real losses were Xavier and Butler, although Butler played us like a fiddle.

Personally the highlight of my season is when we play Canisius and Niagara and Siena........I would hope that in the future we would play them home and away every single year...... Its a wonderful tradition and fills the seats too...........I could care less about playing some low echelon Power 5 schools for cash....no thanks! Ignoring your home and home comment, which shows a blatant disregard for the destruction it would take on our program: As nice as the Franciscan Cup has become, we’ve played Siena as many times as we’ve played St. Francis. We barely drew 4,000 fans for Siena on a Saturday last year. We didn’t even draw 4,000 for Canisius with a nationally ranked team in 2021.

Not a complete sell out but damn close. The former AD removed an entire row of bleachers, eliminating some 500 seats, to create the handicapped area that fans have nicknamed "the jury box"

St Bonaventure scheduling non D1 Mansfield appears to be the new norm for the A-10. 8 conference teams thus far are known to be playing 9 NON-D1 games per the team OOC schedules that have been released to date. St Louis will be playing 2 NON D1 opponents.
Loyola Sunday Nov 10 vs Eureka DIII St Louis Sunday Nov 10 vs Avila NAIA URI Tuesday Nov 12 vs Franklin Pierce DII Dayton Saturday Nov 16 vs Capital DIII St Bonaventure Wednesday Nov 20 vs Mansfield VCU Friday Nov 29 vs Elizabeth City DII Duquesne Monday Dec 2 vs Cleary NAIA LaSalle Saturday Dec 21 Immaculata DIII St Louis Saturday Dec 28 vs William Woods NAIA

When one of those teams is on the bubble the committee will point to their non-D1 game as the reason they/we were left out with a "weak schedule", fair or not fair. Since the league members can't fill out a full schedule of D1 teams despite 340+ options, maybe the league should force their hands with a 20 or even 22 game league schedule. Playing an extra A10 game will always be better than Mansfield or William Woods (that's a real school?)

also with pressure to put more $ to "buying" players, why waste the $ on buy games. Every one in the A10 is probably in this same boat. Schedule another 2 games like KC said.

Playing an interconference game (or 2) as was planned with the WAC or whatever that was canceled because of covid was an answer. One home, one away gave the ability to have 2 mid major as well as reason to travel and schedule a 3rd mid major game made great sense.

Looks like SBU hired the wrong AD, if we hired some of the bandwagon members we would have a much better schedule.

Maybe the new AD can garner an idea or two from the rabid Bonas fans. We are all completely involved in this program (Don McLean lured me down the road to college much to the chagrin of my Jesuit high school teachers) because of a love of the brown and white.

We are all completely involved in this program (Don McLean lured me down the road to college much to the chagrin of my Jesuit high school teachers) because of a love of the brown and white. Want a better schedule? Start donating more to the program or expect to pay a lot more in ticket prices. Some people complain when we play Canisius and NU because they are "beneath us." Others will complain when we play solid, but lesser known, mid major programs because they supposedly don't have enough history or appeal to our fan base. Fact is, the more money you have and the better your team is supposed to be, the easier it is to schedule quality opponents OOC. We turned over virtually our entire roster this offseason. Other schools don't know what to expect, so it makes sense to get the schedule we got this year. CC, NU, UB, Siena, FGCU and Bucknell are featured on our schedule as home and homes because they save the MBB program a lot of money. To buy all of those schools would cost us $400-500K. As you all might be aware, we don't have that kind of dough to burn on scheduling alone. This team could take some time to gel in the early season, so playing road games against very average schools like CC, FGCU, Bucknell and Siena is better than playing road games or even neutral games against the likes of Auburn, Florida, Va Tech, etc.

I agree with KCC… It would cost SBU and other A10 teams a minimal amount to go to 20 league games. Or perhaps make them more money. Also would be a more balanced and compelling schedule.
Perhaps play Loyola, Fordham, St Joe’s etc. in Rochester during the January or mid-term break.
No one wants to see a D2 or D3 opponent in the RC. It doesn’t make us better.

Regarding the current AD using suggestions from the BW - which I presume was made tongue in cheek- I am reminded of the quote from the former GM of I think the N Y Giants who said something like “ if you start listening to the fans in this job, you will soon find yourself sitting with them.”
Also, I am forgetful, but what is the current status of UMASS and the league?

They are officially selling their souls for MAC football starting July 2025
