Bub - what we are doing at least in part is not being Xavier, which includes staying loyal to traditions. I am ok with that. How about this? - we dominate them so thoroughly their fans start questioning whether they should continue to play us without demanding money as a “buy” game and if they do, we politely decline? We’re a long way from that but maybe this season can be the beginning. I hear what you're saying Ceharv but loyalty left the world of college basketball quite some time ago, starting with coaches jumping from team to team chasing dollars and now NIL for the players. There is no loyalty and traditions take a back seat to money. Schmidt likes to tell the story of running into alumni who supposedly tell him that no matter what you do this year, you need to beat Canisius and Niagara. I have never run into an alumnus who has said that. Nobody cares about playing Niagara and Canisius anymore, at least I don't. The fans want to be entertained with a quality home schedule, win or lose. At least that's how I feel.

If Niagara and/or canisisius happen towin by twenty will you be outraged, shocked or will it have been just another meaningless game? Just asking.

Canisius and Niagara quit caring a long time ago. Their fans don't exist. Xavier is in a superior league they don't schedule Dayton anymore. SBU is in a superior league they should not schedule MAAC teams for home and homes.

Dumping Niagara, Canisius and Siena would require finding replacements that Bona fans would be excited to see. We’re already having a hard time finding ANY D1 programs to play us, particularly in the RC. Those programs put paying butts in seats - How many Bona fans are going to get excited by Mansfield, Cal State and LeMoyne? People here are constantly thinking revenge vs. the Grifs and Eagles and I am reminded about how Mark has talked about locals wanting to talk to him about N and C regardless of how the team did in the A10. Why don’t we just add Pitt, Penn State, St. John’s and such to the schedule? Anyone want to add any of them for away-only games, with them not coming to Olean? We just don’t have the options many here seem to think we have and before we drop teams fans are interested in seeing, we need to have viable replacements lined up.

The a 10 is a superior league but its top teams keep leaving, apparently it’s not superior enough to actually remain in.

It has been 30 years since they were a top program. The last 4 teams to leave before UMASS left in 2013. Instead of worrying about the night life of Bona students, you should keep up on conference realignment.

Umass has been passe’ for a while, just like Georgetown. There are ebbs and flows for all these teams and leagues. You are correct that I don’t follow conferences religiously…it’s not a religion..mainly focus un wny because I do not live in S.E.C. zip code. The a10 has lost Xavier, temple butler etc. …none of those teams advanced by leaving, the league has not advanced by adding St. Louis and Loyola either. Everyone is entitled to his own opinions .

Personally the highlight of my season is when we play Canisius and Niagara and Siena........I would hope that in the future we would play them home and away every single year......
Its a wonderful tradition and fills the seats too...........I could care less about playing some low echelon Power 5 schools for cash....no thanks!

Xavier and Butler have had some good years, but I don’t think Temple will ever thrive there. One thing all those schools did at the time was make much more money, so it depends what your parameters for success are. Most want the NCAA Tournament, but Presidents also want the dollars to put in other programs. All of the programs advanced significantly in their pocketbook and public viewing from more exposure.

It is so much more than just an educational experience, its a way of life..........and a life long band of brothers and sisters...........Henry the Fifth.............
