So we lose out on ANOTHER kid to an A-10 school. I understand that this program has been through a lot, but we can't be losing kids in our own back yard to other A-10 programs. It's so frustrating to repeatedly lose out on kids that we want. Why should I have any hope that we'll be able to land talent that is good enough to put us back in the win column on a consistent basis? We just desperately need some good news on the recruiting front. Things are looking so much better this season on the court with the additions of Peaches and co., but the fall recruiting has left me melancholy. I like to be optimistic, but this is tough.

I saw this kid play at Empire State Games this past summer. He's gonna be a good player. Tough loss for the Bonnies.

He did visit SBU...but no guarantee that we offered...4 year players are always more desirable than 2 year players.......

Jh I find it very hard to believe we would not have offered this kid when he was being recruited by URI, Maryland & UNLV. Your argument that 4 year players are preferable is valid, yet we'll take a transfer from Houston with one year of eligibility? If we didn't offer I would be very concerned!

With only 2 years of eligibility left, his main priority was probably playing time. Where was he going to play next year? The 3 and 4 seem to be the only logical positions for him and those are taken by very good players (Lee and Hannah). I agree with jh, we need 4 yr players. Who was the last big guy that SBU has had for all 4 yrs? I can't remember that far back

Don't know what went on last weekend, but someone had previously reported that we had a 4 - year, 6'8" PF recruit on campus. Don't know how this staff works, but it has been known to happen that a staff invites 2 or more kids competing for the same slot and tells them it'll go to the first one to give a committment - maybe we got the 4 year kid Yeah, I'm probably being a little too optimistic.

The one thing this staff does do well is recruit. They are in with many more players than ever. If we need to recruit 50 players to sign three, then so be it!

The one thing I am usually impressed with, is seeing Bonas involved with some top notch recruits, competing along with some top programs. Although it is not air tight or flawless, I often look at the other schools involved and use this as a measure of the kid's caliber. For me, it shows they are not afraid to go up against the big schools.
No offense Mangham, some of the recruits they have brought in, I will maintain my wait and see attitude. While on the other hand there are some recruits they have brought in... I'm baffled as to why?
I just cant agree at this time that recruiting is something they do well!

Phantom they have recruited Mike Lee, Tyler Relph. aj hawkins under tough circumstances...and been very close on other high caliber recruits...these guys do recruit well.... there is little doubt they have brought more talented visitors to this campus than prior staffs

4 year players are always more desirable than 2 year players....... I agree with your above comment, but look at our current roster, it has 4 jucos (the most jucos ever on a Bonnies team). This years roster has only 4 Solomon recruits, who will have the opportunity to play their entire collegiate career with the Bonnies (I remember when this was taken for granted). This is Solomon's 3rd season and I'm concerned with Solomon's sudden quick fix approach, which is displayed by all the jucos on the team and the recent signing of a juco transfer for only 1 year. Considering we just completed a 2 win season, I think it is premature to state Solomon's staff as "recruiting well." Hopefully Lee, Carson, Hawkins and Benson become the quality recruits that justify "recruiting well" because these players represent the future success of the Bonnies.

Jh I don't agree this staff has recruited better then JB's. JB did a great job brining in players like Winn, Cas, Marcus, Gansey, Capers etc. Solomon may be turning the corner but I think it's premature to say he is a better recruiter then JB.
