What is the current status of these players?
Is Lewis red-shirted, but playing next year? House is supposed to play next year?
What about Simmons? Is he red-shirted due to family problems? Is he going to school now and is he around the huddle at home games? We never hear anything about him. Is he going to be a big-time contributor or a role-player in the future?

Lewis is red-shirting and will have two years left.
House is doing the same, and will be an athletic freshman next year.
Simmons will have four years left, starting next fall.

~Lewis Leonard is redshirting this season. Will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.
~Jake is a "walk on" redshirt, paying his own way this year. The plan is for him to be a scholarship player next year.
~Simmons is redshirting this season due to family issues that kept him home in DC the first semester. He arrived on campus within the last week or two and will begin classes today. He has been on the bench the last two home games, and he is a legit 6'8". From what has been said, he is expected to be a contributor right away next season.

Also, I have a feeling that Simmons and Leonard are going to play key roles next season. Both sound like they have the ability to put the ball in the hole. I also see more of a legit 10 man rotation next year that could cause a lot of teams a lot of trouble if these two guys really pan out. Think about who we lose this year, Carter and Benson. We gain Leonard, Simmons, Conger. Three guys that have been described as scorers and Simmons and Conger have also been said to be able to play a multitude of positions.
PG- Eleby, Blackburn 2 - Matthews, Leonard, Davenport 3 - Simmons, Hall, Conger 4/5 - Thomas, Cook, Nicholson, House
Out of these 12 guys, the only 2 that I don't see getting much time are House and Conger. Development year for them. And no this list is not in any particular order. Some of these guys can play a couple positions also which gives us a bit more depth than it appears. Lot of possibilities on paper. They could go with a huge lineup with Eleby, Simmons, Thomas, Cook, Nicholson. 6'3", 6'8", 6'9", 6'9", 6'9" or they could go small and fast with Blackburn, Leonard, Davenport, Hall, name your center 5'10" 6'4", 6'4", 6'5", 6'9" or a mixture. One thing that will hold them back is ball handling and ball smarts. Hopefully this improves a lot for next season. I know its really really early for this, but you can almost smell the NIT for next season already. That would be a hugh step forward.

Hope House's mouth and teeth are healing well. He took a nasty elbow to the mouth in practice recently.

Would like to hear any practice reports about these players, thanks Houseknecht is really going to surprise some people out there. While he won't be an offensive force from day one, he'll be an immediate positive impact on the defensive end. This kid gets off the floor in a tremendously quick fashion for seemingly effortless blocked shots. Bona fans will also be pleased with his ability on the offensive glass. From what little I've seen, he has an ability for soft touch put backs and occasional hammer dunks. Again, he won't have an impact like Nicholson, but he'll be able to come right in next year and play alongside Andrew for a very formidable defensive duo.

That would be nice to see out of Houseknecht. I was only hoping that by his Jr. and Sr. years he could at least fill out to be a nice role player, but if you say he could have an impact by next year then maybe by his Jr. Sr. years he will be much more than we hoped.

I'm really starting to get excited about the prospect of Houseknecht and Nicholson inside. Basically, when those two are in the game, you're MAKING the opponent become a jump shooting team, because there's no way they get in the paint with these two. Ever since we recruited Houseknecht, I maintained it was because of his defensive prowess. He will struggle getting up and down the court, and won't see a lot of minutes during a fast-paced game. However, if he continues to progress he will definitely see minutes, and he'll play a lot when we face any time of half-court team.

Again, it's very important that people don't read stuff like this and expect Houseknecht to make anything close to a Nicholson impact--even if only on the defensive end. I'm only saying that it seems like he should be able to give us some good minutes next year and provide a pretty fearsome twosome with Professor Nicholson defending the rim.

Also keep in mind that we have Mo Thomas back next year which will be good for House to learn from playing behind him.

Also keep in mind that we have Mo Thomas back next year which will be good for House to learn from playing behind him. The depth we will have next year up front is looking scary. Nicholson Thomas House Cook Simmons From everything I've heard, Simmons can alternate between the 3 and the 4, but with his size, regardless where he plays, he can make an impact down low. Cook needs to improve on finishing around the rim and playing stronger, but with his athleticism and length, I like his upside. As far as I see it, between all five of these guys, our front court is only going to keep improving and will be the strength of this team for a while.

There have been reports that Simmons has a nice outside stroke to go with that size so putting him in with 2 of the following would be deadly: Nicholson, Cook, Thomas. This would create matchup problems for most teams that we would face.
