Its good to remember we lost at home to Ark-Little Rock our A10 Championship/NCAA season - sometimes s@@ happens.. Just looked it up. Minor correction: lost to a 3-4 Arkansas State at the RC that year. Finishing the season with a 224 RPI, I don't think Arkansas State was anywhere near as good as this Siena club. gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-baskbl/2011-12/schedule

Not sure what player Coach Schmidt chose over Lavon Long when recruiting 2 years ago but I saw last years game and I saw this years game and in my opinion Lavon Long was the difference in both games . Better said, if Long was on our side instead of their side, we would have won both games handily. That kid can play. On another matter, if the trolling continues from a couple of these posters, I for one will no longer read this blog. Something needs to be done by the administrator. I'm sure I can speak for other legitimate Bona fans. Kind words thanks HC never really considered Lavon. Asst like Lavon but HC would not visit his school nor offer. For that reason Lavon will always play well against you guys. See ya next year

I think bigbobber hit the nail on the head. After Dartmouth, our young guards were overconfident when faced with a team with enough experience not to panic when under pressure and cough it up, leading to easy buckets the other way. Everyone says they will learn, I agree, but I guess we'll see. I sure hope so because I am already sick of the "rock bottom" comments. Rock bottom is when the Chrmn of the Board committs suicide over a recruiting scandal and the program is lucky to escape the death penalty, while being vilified by national media, including its own alums, as the "poster-boy" for lack of institutional control, although I always thought that given the facts, ironically the real problem was too much institutional involvement, not a lack of it. And jh hit it also - "x&@$" happens. This will pass and play out, I for one remain very enthused and optimistic about where the program is headed, and at the same time, after my visit of 11/8 and 11/9 for the mock trial competition, where the school as a whole is headed. GO BONNIE'S (and we will - have faith folks!)

ceharv...Literally impossible to hit rock bottom second game in. I listen to people who are a lot more educated on basketball than I ever could be and one thing seems to ring true. Freshman PG's will make many mistakes. There is a growing process. I like to look at the bright side. Jalen Adams will be a star at Bonas. Just not this year. The kid has confidence is his game. When he hoisted up that 3 at a critical point in last nights game and missed it turned out to be a bad shot. But he wasn't afraid to pull the trigger. These kids need to be coached up. Schmidt recognizes that and it will take time. I see us being a very tough out by the time the A10 season starts.

He missed a shot. So what. Maybe, he will be a star this year! Who knows? A good player hits about half his shots. Yeah, these Bonnies need to learn. They need to learn what Siena already knows.......team work. That's why we play these games! These Bonnies will learn! And, at the end of the year.... hopefully........they will be a better team.

I have the Bonnies needing to go about 10-2 before conference play to have a shot at 18 wins during the regular season.......Siena is "ok". They have to go on a run.....st bona cannot lose to Niagara or canisus or UB.......have to win these games.........I can see coach Schmidt using the line "we are young ". Or "our inexperience showed tonight" or " our youthful mistakes are a given". Can't afford to lose games at Reilly center v s non conference teams........have to go on a run

The optimism on this board was such that the new recruits and JC transfers were good enough to beat a team from the MAAC. However, the basketball yearbooks did not say much about our new players, if anything. They must have known that our new players were not going to be that good.

They are good enough to beat MAAC teams but they faced a team that has played together for over a season while our team is still getting things together. I dont see your logic at all

maplehurst...no doubt the optimism was high. I think the biggest problem the other night was Ndoye really looking lost out there and Wright not getting the looks he needs. The balloon has been deflated a little but it's the second game of the season. The season for us really starts in January, particularly with these kids. Don't get me wrong. We need to have a decent OOC record but our post season hopes will not come out of this weak out of conference schedule. Just watched this week Bucknell of Patriot league play Michigan and Nova on the road. They were handily defeated by Michigan but battled Nova to an 8 point loss. Who would you rather have as a loss on your schedule, Villanova or Siena? Michigan or Niagara? I have beat the drum on this for years and the OOC schedule continues to have soft patches in it that really make us look bad. And don't give me the BS about the A10 wants you to schedule a certain way. Fordham played Maryland and Penn State this week. This is how the basketball program wants things set up.... not the A10.

We always play weak teams/ lose. I agree... play tough teams/ get exposure.... no no... lets play mediocre teams / lose.... that's awesome I recently said we would only win 9 games... It honestly could come true. This is with a HORRIBLE out of conference schedule. Our recruits are medicore.... The a10 doesn't want us to do this.. its our decision...... Our back court is not good.... watching Seton Hall (graduated from their grad school) since they are my other favorite team..... They would CRUSH us...... their back court is at another level/ they will be an average team in the big east if that...

Just thought about this..... D. Wright - Okay garbage ball player. - Brings energy - No shot - Not very good at rebounding. - Scrappy player He shouldn't be discussed very much; however, you know why he is? we aren't very good. He is a top player on a POOR team..... It starts/stops with the coach.
