I didn't leave this game with the impression that Bonas played poorly. I left with the belief that UMES is a much better team than given credit for. If not, they certainly know how to fake it. We don't defend the 3pt shot very well, but they made them even when we did. This is why no team can be taken lightly. You never know when a group of players will be shooting "unconscious" from the field.

Against Siena, we played very poorly, last night was a combo of hot shooting and some mistakes. We win that game 9/10 times. Nothing to do but look forward to Delaware and put one on the left side before A10 play.

My impression from a grainy internet feed that would act up far too frequently was that UMES did a good job moving the ball around until our defense lost one of their guys. That lost guy hit a 3 every frickin time. I didn't see a lot fast break points based on beating the 1-3-1. The fast break points came mostly when they stole the ball right out of the Bona guy's hands - at least once for Andel and (I believe) once for Jaylen. The points I saw them score were from half court sets that exploited our tendency to swarm around anyone making a move toward the inside and leaving one of theirs wide open as a result.

Have to add I can't believe 6'3" Ishaq Pitt. Probably the least athletic guard I've seen in D-I. Throughout the game he broke down the Bonnie defense with his extremely slow controlled drives to the basket and then pass it out for an open 3. Can't figure out how he kept his shots on drives to the hoop from being rejected by Youssou and Dion. When you have a wide, strong body and know how to use it, you can play a lot bigger than you are. He was lowering his shoulder and using it as a battering ram very effectively. I think he out weighed Youssou. I thought UMESS got away with a lot of offensive stiff arms and the refs allowed for a very physical game and that did not help us any.
