Looks like Howland could end up at Mississippi State who fired Rick Ray on Saturday.

Lavin out at St Johns. This was pretty shocking. I thought they were working on a new contract but I guess that fell through.

The St. John's job has challenges, but Lavin has not impressed me. Still, he will get an offer for a job at a decent school, or do t.v. After all, he has great hair.
Hurley up next at St. John's ?
I think Cleuss would have gotten an interview, but Iona just extended him I believe.
Masiello from Manhattan ?
Bad luck for Fordham I think. They just became the second-most desirable NYC metro opening. Make that a distant second.

Toole from Robert Morris is interviewing at Fordham. Hear Barnes is out at Texas too. Was never a Mike Rice fan, but Toole seems to have done a very good job at Robert Morris. Toole would be a very good catch for Fordham which probably has zero chance of attracting an extablished head coach with a career record over .500. Unless you consider Toole/Robert Morris 'established.' If Barnes is out at Texas that's bad news for former Bonnie Rob Lanier, Associate Head Coach. When Texas hired Lanier away from Florida there was a rumor that Lanier was hired at Texas as head-coach-in-waiting. That rumor lasted for about 3 seconds and was quickly put to death, and I assume Rob (a great guy who dserves good things) will be cut loose if Barnes is.

Tennessee- Arizona St - St Johns - Texas would be interesting if Zona St took miller from Dayton...two millers dueling in the desert ?? Not happening. Archie just got his contract extended at UD. He's found his niche. Barnes FINALLY given the Longhorn boot, for reasons I stated earlier in this forum. Is there a more smarmy-looking cheap used car salesman than Donnie Tyndall? Once again Tennessee made a bad coaching hire, it's a broken record. Never should have hired Tyndall in the first place considering the underhanded way he ran the Southern Miss program. That school is facing major NCAA sanctions. Tennessee had to know this guy was bad news. Just as well Lavin left St. John's, that once formidable BE program is the next DePaul.

Lavin out at St Johns. This was pretty shocking. I thought they were working on a new contract but I guess that fell through. I was very surprised, now the Fordham job could possibly be more difficult to fill...although possibly a different set of candidates, I imagine that St Johns would feel that Fordham's candidates are below them....possibly the making of another DePaul. I remember when Lavin came in.....brought in Gene Keady, historic Coach at Purdue (Lavin worked for him) to work as an assistant (something not seen often)......Lavin also lost a season due to cancer. Gee, only 2 NIT's and 2 NCAA appearances for them.... espn.go.com/new-york/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12569821/st-john-red-storm-cut-ties-steve-lavin

it's being widely reported here in Pittsburgh that Toole turned down the Fordham job to stay with Bobby Mo, apparently without a contract extension or pay increase - what a kick in the teeth to Fordham!!
Everyone always seems to believe having a program located in a big city and with the large TV exposure, fan base, arena, etc.is the tops, yet the top spots at both Fordham and the Johnnies, located in a hoops hotbed, are going begging and the future looks dim right now for both. Of course we know what will turn them around - big bucks will bring in top names to one or both! I wonder if Ben Howland wishes now he'd been a little more patient.

Toole would have been more than a home run for Fordham. Not surprised he turned it down if the reports are true, ceharv. Fordham's going to have to throw A LOT of money around just to get someone decent given that situation.

Hate to say it, but this is when I'm glad the Bonnies finished 18-13 instead of 22-9.
