And let me tell you I respect the hell out of CoachSbu for not calling me an idiot and explaining the rationale about things, that's a true fan! He believes it's a leadership thing, that's why the top 100 record is what it is, could be. At least he explained himself and didn't call me a troll. Thanks much appreciated!

Mangham- Will you please stop with the adolescent ranting. Bonafan5000 makes valid points and is right about Schmidt. You sound the like 5 year old plugging his ears who doesn't want to hear the truth. If Schmidt left tomorrow, it wouldn't bother me in the least. He is what he is: An average coach at best. Deal with it and if you disagree, come up with a reasonable argument. Otherwise, just go away!!! Who are you? Donald Trump's illegitimate son?? You have been given ample proof for months on here about the attributes of Coach Schmidt and you refuse to acknowledge them and keep ranting about the same thing with ignorance.... You sound a lot like those snowflakes we've come to know so well. Always crying. Enough Coachsbu. You're no better than Mangham. Please stop with your incessant defense of Schmidt. You sound soooo unitelligent and misinformed. Get a life my son.

There is complaining on the Dayton board about the officiating despite their win. Basically that JAY initiated the contact when on offense and always got the calls to go his way. The Dayton fans are just going to have to get used to it because certain players are just hard to guard and have a talent for drawing fouls. Trivia question: Anyone remember Ovie Soko? He transferred from UAB to Duquesne and gave the Bonnies fits a few years back. We were complaining about the same thing when they beat us in Pittsburgh in 2014. Soko went to the line for 20 shots and made 13 of them. That year he was #3 in the nation at drawing fouls, which he did at the rate of 8.3 per 40 minutes. I guess the Bonnies figured out how to handle him because we won the second meeting that year, largely by limiting Soko to 3 free throw attempts. This year Jay has consistently drawn fouls at a high rate, and not just from Dayton. He ranks #54 in the country at a rate of 6.6 per 40 minutes. BTW, as a longtime Steelers fan, I think this Bona team will be pretty popular in Pittsburgh, and not just because of geographical proximity. There is a grit and feistiness in the Bonnies that fits well with the Steel City culture. Jay's ability to fight through the trees and get to the hoop is one aspect of that.

Coachsbu I get your point that Ayeni needs to learn to stop at the whistle but I think if you benched him for the rest of this game you would have even more people calling for Schmidts head.
It was interesting on the broadcast they discussed whose locker room is it and the team said it was Greggs and would be Adam's next year. It struck me as an odd thing to be discussing this late in the season but then again the announcers didn't exactly do there homework on the Bonnies so maybe it's nothing

Ok, i do understand that everybody has their opinion. And, i do understand that some may think that their view is the only view. Or, the correct view. I will also say; that there are 2, at least, on here, that think they know the "truth". You dont. You are not even close. Hermit I tend to agree with what I think you are trying say. Which is none of us on this board have perfect information so we can't deal in absolute truths. However your post comes across to me that you know the the absolute truth and that we should only listen to your absolute truth. Which to me is just as wrong to me as these other yahoos that seem to have all the answers. Because the reality lies somewhere in the middle.

Thanks King101, it's tough to have an elite player and be 0 for the season against the top 100... That is how you can put a university on the map is by beating the big boys This stat has to do more with "Team Leadership" than coaching, I do believe. Last year we were 6-4 against Top 100 teams. The captains of that team, Posley and Wright, were LEADERS and it showed in our ability to pull out close games. This year, we just don't have it. I'm one who is going to call out Idris and Denzel, especially Gregg, because these guys fail to show up in our big games this year. Denzel could have hit a lot of shots today that he missed and was accurate in the LaSalle game earlier this week. He just isn't consistent enough shooting the ball like Dion was in the paint in his years at St. Bona. He had some nice defensive moments today and I love when he displays his leadership on the court like trying to get Ayeni under control in the game against LaSalle, but if we are going to be able to string together wins in the A-10 tourney, this guy is going to have to play his best ball of the year night to night. Spot on CoachSBU. I wrote before the season started that leadership would be the missing ingredient this year. Dion and Marcus were tremendous leaders, vocally and with their actions. Consistency and leadership are difficult things and for us to make a run in Pittsburgh, either Gregg or Taqqee need to show up as the third option. I can't believe the whiners after this game. We lost by 4 to one of the best teams in the league on their court. Schmidt does not play the game. He was as frustrated as the rest of us when some calls were made by the refs and some shots were attempted. The coach didn't plan them. We have a major weakness this year in the middle with 2 fresh (both of who will be very good down the road but who will be very inconsistent now). Andoh is the next option and he is a real liability on defense (doesn't have size for the middle and his feet are slow on the outside), and he is inconsistent offensively. If I were on the Dayton board I wouldn't be saying Achie sucks, we could have beaten that team by 20 but they came out slow and didn't play good d or answer Bonnie's defense. Every team has their issues on any given day. Everyone ought to be happy that Schmidt has brought this program back so far that you whine when we lose by 4 to one of the top 2 teams in the league on their floor. Coach is the one that has made your expectations rise. I thought the refereeing in this game was spotty, but not unequal. My only surprise is that in a very physical game, UD's center, who was integral to most of the rough play, had only 1 foul on the night. The seems strange.

This Bonnie team has weaknesses of which we are all aware, but I think they demonstrated last night that they have the legit ability (not just a faint hope) to make a run in the A10, maybe even to the final game. Long teams will give us trouble though. A few things I enjoyed while not cursing the refs: -The much improved energy from our two starting guards the past few games continued. - Pollard, who has been a physical terror the past few years bouncing off Ikpeze like a rubber ball. - Adams delivering the one-hitter-quitter to Pollard's jaw for the standing 8 count and 'referee stops contest'. - Adams shooting with that old swagger. - Ayeni's fire. Yes, he needed to let go of that ball 2-3 seconds sooner. But you can teach most kids to control that fire. (Wasn't Idriis involved in similar plays as a freshman?). Rarely can you give a kid that competitive fire if he doesn't already have it.
*edit. Also, Griffin shows more every game.

Yes, Dem Bonnies have their flaws, but if they can somehow close the regular season strong, they will be a team to be reckoned with in Da Burgh.
I would expect there will be ample brown and white clad fans in the stands come tourney time. Our Heroes get high marks for effort. Jay, in particular, never ielded at UD until the clock reached zero.
That work ethic can serve them well going forward. Key in the stretch may well be Denzel. He's got to be da man in the paint from here on out.

The lineup of Adams mobley griffin Gregg and Ayeni play some big minutes in the first half but we didn't see it in the second half. I thought it was the lineup that matched up best with Daytons length. It will be interesting to see if we see that lineup again.

There are only 5 capable teams of winning in Pitt. Rhode Island, Dayton, VCU, Davidson, and Bona. Gotta have some star power that can score the ball. Richmond relies heavily on Cline, great player but I don't trust their guards to score the rock. We have a chance, and in my opinion LaSalle could never win more than 2 in a row, they play absolutely no defense

I think Bona can make it to the Finals of the A10 Tournament.....we are playing very well lately. Patch up the defense and we can beat anyone at a neutral site.

Nice to see the attention and a deserved nod to Jay, despite the team's so-so season relative to last year. What bothers me is the reference to A10 as a mid major, and coming from a site called A10 Talk. I prefer Eamonn's characterization of leagues like ours.
