We're really having a pissing match with UB fans because a team that's good, considers us to also be good and a rival? But we're better than them because we were good at D-1 basketball in the 60s? Why are we so insecure about our status? I am perfectly comfortable with our status. We are who we are, and it’s a part of what makes you so hopelessly love who we are when you are part of it and truly ‘get it’ I’ve posted a lot on this subject, a good amount of it being tongue-in-cheek frustration. My frustration is not in losing to them, nor thinking we are better than them. I think any reasonable Bona fan knows that we have little reason to ever get arrogant about anything when it comes to basketball status. No, my frustration comes from the UB fans. Their accusation of such an arrogance is misguided and hypocritical. It derives from fundamental misunderstanding of the vast differences between the 2 schools’ competitive landscapes and challenges, and the differences for what each school can and should use as metrics of accomplishment. I could go on and on, but the end of the day, most Bona fans know there is a multi-layered somewhat complex idea of “it”. “It” being that difficult to explain feeling of enormous pride we have when success is achieved because of the jungle of odds stacked in opposition of our favor. So that is to say, for outsiders, they just don’t get “it”. It’s not arrogance, it’s not anything of the sort. But it’s also not something that can be explained in a short-winded manner. And that’s fine. UB has done great for themselves and I wish them luck the rest of the way. They don’t have to get “it”. All that I really care about is that I do. Edit- I'm not suggesting Agoo or anyone else doesnt get it!

They made a shirt lol. It's amazing that a school with 30,000+ students can have such a little brother syndrome to a school with 2,000 students.

UB fans came into this responding to our suggestions that UB isn't a rival because they weren't D-1 in the 60s and don't sell out their games. They're ranked right now and riding a wave of success. We're hanging our hat on when they got D-1 status, ticket sales, and the fact they have a football team to paint them as "less than." If that's not arrogance, what is? And that's our and we collectively, not you or me specifically.

Since we’re talking tv rating now, I wonder how our NCCAA game against FSU drew since that one was on CBS albeit at noon. Also kinda wonder if this UB guy even realizes we made the tourney that year since he probably wasn’t following the UB program back then I graduated from UB in 2000 so I've followed WNY college sports since the late 90s. The local media and schools have posted ratings over the years. I dont scorn Bona for the TruTV ratings as those numbers are amazing for that network. I mostly toss ratings at SU fans who say they own WNY or, in this thread, when people claim we have few fans. I looked at the data and did miss-write the point on NU and Bona. Games did have over 7.0s. Bona is as popular as Syracuse on WNY tv. Here are the numbers of some games, even Bona's WBB games in their run: 2009 NCAA Title Game UNC/Michigan St Mon Apr 6, 9 PM CBS: 8.4 2010 NCAA BB Sweet 16 Syracuse/Butler Thu March 25, 7 PM CBS: 7.9 2007 NCAA BB 1st Round Niagara/Kansas Fri March 16, 7 PM CBS : 7.8 2012 NCAA BB Final 4 Kentucky/Louisville CBS 7.8 2012 NCAA BB 1st Round St Bona/FSU CBS 7.5 2012 NCAA BB Sweet 16 Syracuse/Wisconson CBS 7.4 2012 NCAA BB Elite 8 Syracuse/Ohio St CBS 6.9 2010 NCAA BB 2nd Round Syracuse/Gonzaga Sun March 21, 12 PM CBS: 6.8 2010 NCAA BB 1st Round Syracuse/Vermont Fri March 19, 10 PM CBS: 6.3 2010 NCAA BB 2nd Round Cornell/Wisconsin Sun March 21, 3 PM CBS: 6.3 2007 NCAA BB 1st Round Duke/VCU Thur March 15, 7 PM CBS: 6.1 2012 NCAA BB Final 4 Kansas/Ohio St CBS: 6.1 2011 NCAA BB 2nd Round UCLA/Florida Sat March 19, 3 PM CBS: 6.0 2010 Sweet 16 Kentucky/Cornell Thu March 25, 10 PM CBS : 5.1 2012 NCAA BB 2nd Round Syracuse/Kansas St CBS 4.9 2012 NCAA WBB Sweet 16 St Bona/Marist ESPN2: 4.0 2009 BE Tourny Syracuse/UConn Thur March 12, 9:30 PM ESPN: 3.2 [The BE title game that went 6OT] 2009 MAAC Title Game Niagara/Siena Mon March 9, 9 PM ESPN2: 2.5 2012 NCAA WBB Elite 8 St Bona/Notre Dame ESPN2: 2.5 2012 NCAA BB 1ST Round Syracuse/UNC-Asheville truTV: 2.5 2012 NCAA WBB 1st Round St Bona/FL Gulf Coast ESPN2: 2.3

to answer your guys' questions: UB coach Nate Oats tweeted "be careful what you wish for" right after our game, evidently relating to the student section's "We want UB" cheers late in the Siena game. Now these entrepreneurs are using his tweet with those shirts.
