Is there a reason he doesn't see any minutes?

Taylor is on his way out. He didn't even shoot lay-ups at halftime of the Canisius game, he stood at the end of one ofthe lines the whole time. He is hardly used in practice as well. Heard he wants to leave.. and practices like it.

Relax bonaballa1, it happens in every program. Sometimes both sides realize it's not a good fit and they part ways.

I never bought the "back spasms" fascade at all, especially after seeing him run things during the Brown & White Scrimmage. If he wants out, he's free as a bird two weeks from now, which is too bad given his hype. One must wonder what gives in this situation.

This was the press release when Delonte signed:
Men's Basketball adds Delonte Taylor
Aug. 26, 2007
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team continues to bulk up its roster as head coach Mark Schmidt announced that Delonte Taylor has signed a grant-in aid to attend St. Bonaventure this fall.
Taylor will be the eighth new face on the Bona roster this upcoming season and the fifth freshman. Transfers Chris Matthews and Maurice Thomas will have to sit out the 2007-08 season per NCAA transfer rules.
"Delonte is a physical wing player who can really shoot the ball," said Schmidt. "His father played in the NBA so he has great genes and good feel for the game. His athleticism and maturity will help him make an immediate impact."
A native of Washington, D.C., Taylor spent this past season at Lutheran Christian Academy. There, he averaged 17 points per game and four boards per contest. This past summer, Taylor was tabbed the 64th-ranked fifth-year player in the country by Hoop Scoop in its final 2007 rankings.
Taylor spent the final two years of his high school career at H.D. Woodson in Washington, D.C. As a senior, he led the DCIAA in scoring at 27 points per game en route to being named to the league's first team and the All-Metro fourth team.
So, what happened in 3 short months ?

If you look back at the Delonte Taylor thread, there are two possible takeaways:
1. Despite the elation when he signed, if a player is still available in August, there are probably good reasons why no-one offered him a scholarship.
2. There were questions about his eligibility, due to the reputation of the prep school he attended. Although it turned out he got the OK from the Clearninghouse, a couple of quotes from that thread are interesting:
1. "That is about the 10th time that school has been mentioned on this board I think we get that they had problems according to the Washington Post/ NY Times. Do you really think Bonaventure gives a player a scholarship who is from HIGH SCHOOL who was not cleared. You can't be given a scholarship out of high school if you do not have clearance from the NCAA clearing house. "
2. "those articles mean nothing as far as Taylor's admittance into St. Bonaventure. He would NOT be allowed to play D-1 if he was not cleared by the clearing house"
The Da'Quan Cook situation demonstrates that a player CAN initially be given a scholarship and be admitted to the school without a Clearninghouse OK. (Also signing a LOI means nothing as far as the player being eligible either.)

Trying to get 5 players on my3rd/4th grade team to run simple plays is a challenge. If one or two don't execute the whole thing breaks down. Maybe more time with the playbook early on would have allowed him to be on the court more instead of stewing on the bench.

Complete speculation as of right now but I have been told Taylor has been kicked off/indefinitely suspended from the team (I know there's a difference but at this point I'm not sure, just know that he won't be playing anytime soon) stemming from a recent stolen property incident on campus. In any case, he didn't make the Ohio trip because he broke a team rule, and if that's the case then this arrest could be it.
