I am giving the nod to the OP. Though The Hickey did have its merits, like the ability to hook up with 30 some year old townies. Always a plus.

Plus didn't the weasels or bevels have the Bonas copyright on these kind of threads? Very mature. Glad to hear you still care about us though. What's your lurker screen name on the Bevel?

The Hickey Tavern easily gets my vote. That place is a literal free for all where pretty much almost anything goes.

Then tradition of the Hickey is unmatched in WNY, started by Maggie and carried on by Big Lou. Some of the best live music in the area and Lou pours the best shots!

Plus didn't the weasels or bevels have the Bonas copyright on these kind of threads? What are bevels?

There is literature written about me in the women's bathroom at the 'Tav. I've also had ice cubes thrown at me by Eddie for no reason, received a flying elbow from the top turnbuckle of the pool table, and discovered the mysteries of the "back room". I'll vote Hickey, with the OP in a close 2nd and the Burton not being in the top 5 Bona bars.

I'll vote Hickey, with the OP in a close 2nd and the Burton not being in the top 5 Bona bars. I'm guessing that's because you weren't cool enough and with a name like Stench, I am probably right. The Hickey is great but the OP sucks. OP is worse than the Burton.

The Hickey is great but the OP sucks. OP is worse than the Burton. Although I can't and refuse to vouch for my own "coolness", I can make the connection that I don't frequent the Burton D-Bag-Den because I keep my popped polo collars to a minimum (zero).

You can get kicked out of the Burton for being too drunk.
I've seen kids pass out at the Hickey for extended periods of time only to wake up and get served.
Other behavior only tolerated at the Hickey: "I party harder, than Big Smooth." The Hickey Chop. Full bar dance sessions to "Shout!" complete with the whole bar squating down during "a little bit softer now." Spraying beer like it's champagne. The Hickey shuffle. Dancing like Pee-Wee Herman to "Tequila" on the bar. "F' you Phil!" Slamming mixed drinks and spiking glasses off the wall.
Is there any other bar in Allegany, much less the United States that you know of where antics such as that would go unpunished??? Just look at the pictures on the previous page, the place is so so so awesome.
Oh, and I can vouch for Stench's coolness. He is very very cool.

I know one bar off the top of my head where it is encouraged to act this way. Some bar in Charlotte, NC that one of my Bona friends took me to. It's pretty much the Bonas bar down there. Half of the things you just described, we did that night. Can't remember the name, though. Go Bonas!

Lou Ruby is by far the coolest bar "owner" (not sure if Abby has rights, she's mentioned she has), The service at the Hickey is by far the best, you'll never wait more than 3 minutes to get a drink no matter how busy they are, they don't measure out how much liquor they're giving you, all shots are at $2, Josh works there, the jukebox is ****ing awesome, and you'll never have to hear any nickelback or akon at the Hickey.
And the OP is EONS better than the Burton. First of all, dickhead Steve doesn't work at the OP, bball players hang out at the OP and wouldn't be caught dead at the Burton (at least the cool ones anyway, which are, all of them this year...Shane?).
Bad beer night at the Hickey is so much better than crappy ass cup night, and no one wears aviators or wristbands to any bar other than the Burton. I'd rather go to Foster's and drink with 16 year olds than drink with 90% of the Burton clientele.
Plus I'm sure most of you have never heard the about Burton Diarrhea. It kinda describes itself.
And not only is WestEndStench cool enough to go to the Burton, he's way too cool for the Burton.
Also, the back room WestEnd speaks of has got to be one of the Hickey's funniest and best qualities.

Nothing could beat a cold winter night and a cooking hot Club 17 with Al holding court at the end of the bar. The bloody mary's on Sunday afternoon were the best. In its day there was only one top dog bar in the area, and that was the legendary Club 17.

Hard to believe so many have such strong emotional ties to these little dump bars in tiny Allegany.
