Hard to believe so many have such strong emotional ties to these little dump bars in tiny Allegany. Yeah, you wouldn't understand that, "towniegrad". That name speaks for itself... and I don't mean that in a derogatory way towards people from Olean/Allegany. I only mean that embracing the term "townie" speaks volumes about what sort of Bona guy you were/weren't.

I think it goes OP, Hickey, fosters, rathskellar, Burton.
Don't kid yourself West End Stench the Hickey has plenty of "Olivers" of its own.
OP is a good mix of real drinking and no over acting or faking "black out". Not a fan of the music most nights but then again I don't really notice after a while anyways.

Here's why the Hickey rules. Has a Bona bar besides it even seen partying like this since the 80's? Spring weekend 2007. Spring weekend 2008. Notice the beer splatter on the celing and even on some people's clothes as people was basically celebrating like they were in the '93 Blue Jay's locker room. I can make out a whopping one girl per pic. Looks more like a massive sausage fest to me.

I don't think there's a lot of faking when it comes to "blacking out" at the Hickey. Those that gain the reputation pretty much do black out there. Lou pours his regulars seemingly endless free shots. It's a black out recipe if there ever was one. The level is drunkenness is nowhere near the same at the OP and Burton--not that that is a badge of honor, but it's just true.

Now I like getting fucked up just as much as anyone, and I realize this is a stupid debate and without bringing up specifics, I disagree on level of actually alcohol consumed between OP/Hickey, it is about the same I think. That said, I would gladly drink with anyone on this board in Hickey over Burton any night, and I think that is something a lot of us can agree on.

Both those pictures were actually snapped by females, solo. And honestly you think girls would want to be a part of that mosh pit/dog pile? Every girl that was in there was either pressed against the back or front walls. Besides the one that hit my buddy in the head with a bottle because she happened to get sprayed with part of his beer.

I'd say about 90% of my friends at Bonas are Bona kids from Olean. They don't see themselves as townies though... they see themselves at Bona kids because that's what they are. I love Olean: the charm, the characters, and the fact that yeah, a shitload of my friends are from there. However, you, towniegrad, are obviously one of those Allegany/Olean kids who thought you were too fucking cool to mingle with kids from Rochester/Buffalo/Binghamton, and only hung out with your friends who went to JCC or didn't make it past high school. We all know your type... never give anyone outside of your hometown a chance, thinking to yourself "all of these college kids think they own our town, they're all just rich stereotypical college kids, ALCS Gators forever, man!" Even though you were probably an Olean kid hating on all of Allegany, so go fist yourself at Younger's, you antisocial weeeirdo. Towniegrad, feel free to defend yourself, you really did only say one sentence, but TomAngelone got me fired up.

Oh, I must have missed that clause of rule 34, article vii., paragraph 2-b in the College Student's Field Manual for Partying. More importantly, last time I checked, having fun drinking with your friends and being in the presence of females didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Sorry to **** on your parade, "o" (creative name btw, I can tell a lot of thought went into that one). Better luck next time, sport. OH MAN THERE WAS BEER EVERYWHERE THE WALLS THE CEILING UR SO COLLEGE BRO. ...Please. Give me a break, your description of a good time sounds like a deleted scene from a straight-to-DVD American Pie movie.

Solo, you must have been the man at Bonas. Don't give me the whole "I'm so college" run-around. The atmosphere at the Hickey is the EXACT opposite of what that's all about. The fact that you had to poin tout that there was no chicks in the picture proves your wayyyy more of the college dude type. "Ohh chicks man, I gotta do everything to make chicks think I'm cool bro. We can't go to the Hickey and blackout and celebrate like the '93 Canadiens becuase chicks might see us and think it's uncool, ohh dude bro, bro-dude, chicks!"

Your name is solo. Which describes everything about you. ...That I like cheap plastic cups, Star Wars, and Guitar Hero? I'm not sure I'm following. If your remark was designed to be a clever put down, I think it's safe to say it failed, and miserably at that. Solo, you must have been the man at Bonas. Don't give me the whole "I'm so college" run-around. The atmosphere at the Hickey is the EXACT opposite of what that's all about. Yeah, because a guy in his early 20s being interested in women when he goes out is a phenomenon unique to colleges. And for the record, yes, I was the man at Bona's. Thanks for asking.

In my day, the OP was unquestionably #1, with Mad Dogs being a close 2nd (too many hippies). One thing that has bugged me about visiting Bonas in recent years is that everyone dresses like they're at a club in NYC. Never been to the Hickey, but judging by the clothing in the pics it actually looks like a college party/bar should.
