I think the poll has been deep fried in fecal matter since The Wave is not an option.

I disagree "o" is one of the funniest posters currently on the bandwagon. Unlike BGDM, he actually makes me laugh when trying to get under people's skin. "One of the funniest?" He's been here for two days. Try to be less blatantly transparent the next time you're playing favorites with your friends.

Nor am I yours, and that sucks for you; because I'm a great friend.

Reading these posts with great amusement and fond memories. Here's my two cents - you gotta give the Burton credit for staying power! When one of my brothers was at Bona's beginning in "63-"64, his nickname was "Burton"! Obviously, it still is drawing students till this day! My freshman year, '67-'68, the place to be was the VI at the end of Allegany. You couldn't get in the place. The bowling machine was backed up with pitchers of beer being the gaming currency. Lanier was almost unbeatable due to his reach! All the televised road games that we couldn't get to - you went to the VI. Then Eddie Ball, the owner, got the idea he didn't want to make any $$ and the next year he discouraged students fron hanging there. That opened the door for Al and "The Club"! From then on the Club 17 was the place to be -nothing topped it then through at least '73, 74 , 75. Al Annunziato was a great bar owner, business man and even better guy. The school was really smoked when the '73 year book was dedicated to him - a "saloon Keeper"! As to the Skellar, Mons, Slim and I (as Freshman) were there the night it opened for seniors only. It never could compare because it only pushed Schaeffer beer and no booze then. Der Hut, the Mini Bar and myriad others came and went but nothing topped the Club. Still this is a generational thing kind of like "live ball - dead ball eras. It was all good!

Back in my day, Al's Club 17 was the place. Der Hut was ok. If you could down the 25 cent Schaeffer at the Skellar, you could stomach the 15 cent Kohler's too at the Bowling Ally across from the Holiday Inn.

My uncle went to Bona's back in the '70s and he said that the 'Skeller was legendary back then.

Club 17 circa 1968-73 was the best bar in the Olean/Allegany area hands down. RIP Al.

Hickey.
Cheap beer and shots, Stiff booze drinks, flawless jukebox, Lou & Abby, sweet live bands, blackberry brandy, and the aforementioned back room where you can smoke a joint no questions asked.

What about that place on Union across from the Jube that used to serve a good hearty bowl of soup to enjoy with a dozen or so splits of OV? Was it the Royal? Yeah. I think it was the Royal. Anybody remember that joint? Is it still there?
