The Williams/Carter duo displayed their skills yesterday and both bring something to the table that the team needs: perimeter shooting and bulk in the box. Carter is a Mark Jones type player with a nice fluid game and a disciplined style of play about him. He is not the same type of player as Maurice. Maurice is quicker and faster, but Eli is a better shooter and at 6'0 stronger and a better finisher. The Hurley influence is all over the kid as he plays smart, under control and has good court sense. Derrick Williams posseses a great body. Gets up and down the floor for his size and has good moves around the hoop. Not explosive moves, but again Hurley-fundamental stuff(up and unders, pump fakes ,drop steps etc). He battled Andrew toe to toe, and also played vs Jake. He seemed to have a nice stroke from the perimeter warming up, but really didnt have many opportunities in the games. He is a thick, Wes Unseld type player who would help in the paint. Overall it showed two kids who could play at this level and help our program. I dont think either would be stars but would be solid contributors immediately.

The Williams/Carter duo sounds a lot like a pair of high school teammates Dayton signed a decade ago, Nate Green and David Morris.
Speaking of high school teammates, I am trying to remember the last time Bonas signed a pair of teammates in the same recruiting class. I guess it would have been Vidal Massiah and Elton Ruddock?

Padres you forgot about Zarryon Fereti and Jermaine Calvin, who were junior college teammates in Idaho. You're forgiven.

Saw the duo today and man do they look ready for the D1 level. I wish I had another four years at Bonas so I could watch potentially both of these guys bringing the program up yet another notch toward official "rebuilt" status.
I can't think of anything better for this program than two 4.0 students who look like college seniors rather than high school seniors and have serious skills. Nothing would make me happier than seeing both of these guys sign in November, I hope we can make this happen.

The eyewitness reports are greatly appreciated JMP. Derrick Williams would be a stud going against smaller/leaner power forwards of the A-10 as compared to bigger stronger "bigs" of the BCS.

Carter & Williams would complement our needs. Carter showed dramatic improvement after playing for Hurley last season. He worked at Hurley’s basketball camp in the Poconos this summer so hopefully he likes an Enchanted Mountain environment. As a combo guard I would see him playing the 2. If Jones becomes a reality we would have an improved backcourt tandem, on both sides of the ball, for the future. Williams strength & D would only add to Andy’s inside presence. I would think he would find playing alongside an A10 Rookie of The Year, an attractive opportunity. If all 3 want to come to Bona, Mark is faced with a nice dilemma sorting out the ships. Lots of uncertainty at this stage, but the possibilities are greatly improved from where we have been in recent years Keep the first hand accounts coming.

Both young men in the Brown & White next season??? Sounds too good to be true. I'll believe it when I see it.
BUT - the weather has been just fantastic the last few days here in the Enchanted Mountains, so much so that just the visit to the SBU campus might do the trick !!! Clean country living, plenty of fresh air and no Gang bangers. GITTY UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like Williams will have a visit to Penn State on Nov. 7th. All Penn State potential basketball recruits are introduced to Joe Paterno. I wonder how much chance we will have of landing Williams after he meets the Legendary Coach. Also, the Nittany Mountains look the same as the Enchanted Mountains. Anyone know if Penn State is playing a home football game around Nov. 7th?

Conveniently enough, Penn State hosts nationally ranked Ohio State on Nov 7
