in yesterday's oth obits: frank cady of wellsville...i remember coach's name from the early 70's when i was a student...a very nice description of his life...how he got his undergraduate and graduate degrees at bonas...and from the sounds of it, one heck of a tennis player, too...may he rest in peace...

in today's oth: jim brush, 79, of wellsville...a nice obit with many details of all his years as a coach and referee for almost 50 years...but the lines i like the best were "...in 1960, he graduated from st bonaventure university with a degree in business administration and forever bled brown and white. he held season tickets to bona venture basketball for 50 years..." i love the reference to bleeding brown and white (maybe someday someone will put that in my obit) and, as far as being a season ticket holder for 50 years, that's what i call being a fan (and i'm sure there's a bunch of folks who, like mr brush, have sat in the reds for 50 years or darn close)...
also in today's oth: dr stephen eaton, emiritus professor of biology at bonas...dr eaton was 98 and has been retired from bonas since 1984...and, if i remember correctly, he was one of a bunch of science profs who team taught a course for us non-science types called "biology of man"...it was taught in the lecture room in plassman and was the only class i had in 4 years at bonas that had over 100 students in the class...
may they both rest in peace...

Father Dan knew everybody and was loved by all. I seem to remember he lived on our floor (3rd Fal) or it may have been first Shay. He was there for you when you needed him.

fr alphonsus trabold passed into eternal life 12 years ago today...so leave a place at the dinner table tonight in case a "guest" shows up...for those who you who did not have the pleasure of having had fr alphonsus, i'll explain: fr used to require that no one sit in the front row of his class in case any "guests" should decide to show up (guest=paranormal spirit)...fr was an exorcist who actually did an exorcism at a house near campus (i'm not sure of the exact location) and, at one time at bonas, taught a class on the paranormal which, i believe, the students nicknamed the class "spooks"...anyway, he was a good guy, and here's hoping to one day see fr alphonsus and all the other good "spirits"...

The house was in Hinsdale I believe......Fr. Alphonus was a unique part of old Bonas of that there is no doubt - Thanks for sharing Senator.

Hinsdale, yes. It was the Dandy family home in Hinsdale. "The haunted house in Hinsdale, perhaps the most famous haunted house in the area, has all the elements of a good ghost story: a mysterious history, strange sightings, unexplainable events and even an exorcism. The house on McMahon Road first gained notoriety when a book, "Echoes of a Haunting," was published in September 2000 by Xlibris Corp. written by Clara Miller/Dandy. Clara and Phil Dandy lived in the house along with their children in the early 1970s. During their time there, they were visited by many spirits . Father Alphonsus, a priest from St. Bonaventure University was at the house more than once to perform an exorcism which worked for awhile but as time went by the Dandy family lost the battle and ended up leaving the house for good. In 2006 A Episode of "A Haunting" and aired on Discovery Channel, It was based on the Dandys and their Experiences. As the years passed by a few families have lived in the home but didn’t stay for long. You can probably guess why. The last occupants of the Hinsdale House were Joe and Florence Misnik, who passed away a few months from one another. In 2009 Author Paul Kenyon Published his Book " You know They're Here" is a true story of actual events of a haunted house experienced by this author in the mid-seventies." www.hauntedhinsdalehouse.com/
