thanks to you all who are posting names here of those in our bona family who have died...everyday i say a prayer for the deceased members of the bona family and then, when a new name is mentioned here, i add "including" (which in the last few days meant mentioning dave garlock, gene mccue and peggy ulasewicz)...i don't know what rules there are, if any, about adding names to our deceased alumni list on our alumni web site, but if this thread is a help for alumniguy, i would be pleased...

Dave was in a motorcycle accident between Virginia Beach and Roanoke. He rode frequently and was heading to a bike rally.

today is father marcian doyle's anniversary...i still remember him walking into class in plassman wearing his motorcycle jacket...funny about some of the friars back then: i don't remember a whole lot about the subjects they taught but i have a picture of them in my mind right to this day...fr joe ruther ("scrufty joe") walking across campus and being greeting by a crowd of squirrels waiting to see what treat he had for them...fr aurelius fell smoking his cigar in class and making the "co-eds" (the term for female bonnies in that much less politically correct time) sit in the front row...fr alphonsus trabold wanting the front row left empty in case some invisible "guests" should come to class...
well, they're all praying for us now and every day...and staying busy greeting yet another bonnie as they pass through the pearly gates (and lately it seems there's been a lot of traffic)...

2 years ago today one of the great profs (and guys) in bona history (i think) passed into eternal life, a day after his 88th birthday...dr joseph tedesco was an english prof at bonas for 42 years...he grew up in nyc and got his bachelor and master's degrees at fordham...once he started teaching at bonas, he never left...his final resting place is right across the street from campus in that part of bona cemetery near the 7th street entrance...i think when we're looking for people to fill positions we can say with pride that people have come to bonas looking for a job and have stayed 30, 40, 50 years...something for us to be proud of...rip dr tedesco...

A wonderful Professor who knew his stuff and worked hard to teach it to his students. Married to an SBU alumnae and their son graduated from SBU. In contrast to Donald Trump Professor T had the largest hands I've ever seen. RIP

In contrast to Donald Trump Professor T had the largest hands I've ever seen. RIP I only took one course from Prof Tedesco. That was in the second semester of my senior year, an elective on George Bernard Shaw. It was the most memorable course I took at Bonas.

tom hagen, who coached our xc teams from '99-'10, passed away in mesa, az on aug 7 per gobonnies.com...prayers go out to the family which includes sons nicholas (class of '03) and mikkel (class of '05)...maybe it would be a good idea for our xc teams to dedicate this season to him and remember him in some special way...

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my former coach. Gone much to young at the age of only 61. Tom Hagen was a great person and coach. He was a family man who often had the entire team over for breakfast with him and his family on the weekends. Of course we had to make the 8 or so mile run to his house first. Coach loved Bonas and the students he coached. I cant speak for the current Bonnies XC team but myself and teammates are in discussion to Honor Coach. Rest in peace Coach Hagen.
