i got a nice thank-you note from coach hagen a number of years back after i ear-marked part of my baf donation for the xc teams...let me know here on the board, runningrj1, or via pm what your plans are to honor coach...i'd like to contribute to that, if that's ok with you and your teammates...and i think letting coach macfarlane know of your plans would be a good idea as i hope he would want to get involved, too...

tom hagen, who coached our xc teams from '99-'10, passed away in mesa, az on aug 7 per gobonnies.com...prayeers go out to the family which includes sons nicholas (class of '03) and mikkel (class of '05)...maybe it would be a good idea for our xc teams to dedicate this season to him and remember him in some special way... Here is the gobonnies release..... (amazingly large family) gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-xc/2017-18/releases/20170811jyiv21

I didnt realize Tom went to Bonas, he was my cousins Uncle. He seemed to drop off the Bonasphere, not long after college. I don't remember seeing him at reunions.......But, I knew him pretty well during school and he was a great guy.

Tom was a freshman when we were seniors in Francis. We sort of took him under our wing, and despite our best efforts to ruin him, he remained "the blonde gentle giant". We used to call him Bam Bam after the Flintstones character, cause of this blonde hair and ox like strength. I am not surprised to see he entered the ministry. He was definitely a good kid who grew up to be a greater man.

I worked at the skellar with him. He was the pictured definition of a Nebraska farm boy, even though he was not from Nebraska. He was clearly the strongest person I ever met. Stacking kegs in the cooler after closing was amazing when he was on shift. Just powerful, but a really nice guy.
