Echo's my sentiments, I am in support of whoever the staff feel can help the team. It would come out of nowhere, but Nigel John, seems to get at the need for a physical presence. There is always the injury factor, but I see Gueye wanting time, if he indeed is the guy, and that just takes away from Jalen, Justin or Quinn's minutes.
I've been trying to read the OTH for any signs that the campus might be opened soon, but as a non subscriber, I'm locked out for now.
News out here is that the University of Minnesota's president has submitted her recommendation to the Board of Regents that campus will be open for in person classes in the fall. A related story that I saw in the Star Tribune (Minneapolis) indicated that of the colleges and universities that had made their decision, 67% had said they will re open in the fall.

Sounds like a really great kid, a doctor to be. Great name, in his spare time he can play 1st base for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and we can give him a nickname, Cool Papa Bell (one of the great baseball players in the old Negro Leagues).

This could prove to be a great move especially off the floor. To have a astute cerebral kid like this chirping in Lofton,Creal, Welch, and Englishs'ears will be a great asset.I see this as a very team oriented move.

This could actually be a great move for both the Bonnies and Josh! We have needed a back up PG and guys who are established and looking for immediate playing time have stayed away versus playing behind Kyle. TBD the type of player Josh is, but if he turns out to have 5 - 7 minute a game ability in his first 2 years that would be great for the team. For Josh, he has 2 years to learn behind a top PG in the A10 and potentially grab the team for his Jr and Sr years. Nice pickup on many fronts!

Based on what I can find on the internet, he is 6-3 and 190. Even if that is a little "high" as internet stats sometimes can be, he is definitely not a small guard. Sounds like he has a bad break two years in a row, but "preferred walk on" is a great status to attain. Decent size, high BB IQ, under the radar and academic oriented. Sounds a little like Mr. English - who was an Academic All Leaguer for us this year! If Josh can be half the ball player Jaren is, this is a nice get for us sometime in the future.

Wow, this kid looks to be a real gift. He fills a need as a tall, classic PG, plus looks to be an on-the-court coach who likely will keep the team GPA elevated, all while keeping a ‘ship open. And you can never have too many lefty point guards. And a kid who had Bonas as his target school. And I almost didn’t bother to check this thread, thinking there’d be no new news.

He seems like a good kid, but I’d be shocked if he ever played any significant time. When was the last time Schmidt played a walk on? Glad to have him on the team but the chances he plays, especially in the next two years, are slim to none.

Bona 20 - good job throwing cold water on what is a very positive story. The idea that a walk-on would be the backup PG and get regular minutes is adding a level of stupidity to what would be a very positive story.

Guys, have we ever seen an incoming freshman designated as a preferred walk on before? Not that I can recall. So isn’t that an indication Schmidt may treat him different then other walk ons? Plus all the “ Well, Schmidt never does this or that have been proven wrong in the past years (never starts a freshman over an upperclassman, plus multiple various other such purported “Schmidt truisms“ that were never the truth and were the actual stupidity of those who insist they know the future or know what coach will do in future situations.) Give the kid a chance, nothing is caste in stone right now. And who said anything about “regular minutes”? I get it that with Kyle, we all hope that time for anyone else at the Point will be minimal for the next two seasons, but we’ve all seen how those hopes can go. And although he sure looked good in short spurts, I am unsure that Jaren is the answer as the back-up Point for an extended stretch. It is premature, stupidly so IMO, to relegate this kid to a four year sentence to the pine just yet.

First of all, I would like to congratulate Josh on picking St. Bonaventure. It is a great school. I would also like to thank Bona 20 for choosing SBU. I am assuming that you are a recent graduate. Tough way for your year to end, but you will always be a Bonnie.
I guess I don’t understand why throwing a little realism is throwing cold water on a good story. Can’t it be a good story without unrealistic expectations? One of the reasons there are so many transfers in college basketball is that kids don’t know what their role is. A walk-on is not going to play significant minutes on this team. Are they an important part of the team? Absolutely! We have seven guards on the team next year. Playing time is going to be hard to come by for the scholarship players let alone a walk on. I know the Bandwagon isn’t known for realism, but is it really that bad?
