This is conjecture, but why not.
Saw on twitter that one time Bona target, Vladimir Manuel, a 6’10”. 225 big, who played at St Patrick’s and then played at harrcum , college outside philly, has been released from his commitment by penn state. Vladimir has previously decomitted from st Jon’s after Chris ullins left. Not clear what the issues were, but he since went to harrumph and then also looked at Stroessner. It s also not clear how much eligibility Vladimir has. One scouting report said raw, but very athletic recruit. If we one time had an intestinal, perhaps connect. He apparently has a strong defensive presence, shot blocker. Maybe? I agree with the twitter poster, if we were ever going to use that 13th scholarship this might be the time. Maybe get a zoom meeting and see.

mnbonnie....Surprised that one scouting report (when?) said VALDIR was "raw." He is not. VALDIR MANUEL, (6'10"/225) from Angola played with AJ Vasquez at TPS their senior years. Justin Winston knows him also since he was on TPS post grad team. VALDIR was a a 4 star recruit with ESPN & Rivals & 24/7 had him as a 3 star who had offers from Seton Hall, St Johns, St Joes, W VA, URI, De Paul,Temple. Bowed out from going to the Johnnies when Mullen left. Academics appear to have been an issue in his recruiting process At Harcum College 27mpg, 21 ppg, 61% FGs, 60% Treys, 69%FTs, 11.1 rebs, 2.2 blks in 18 games. He was #14 JUCO prospect & # 2 center. Frosh year at Harcum, 25mpg, 15 ppg, 11 rebs. 2nd Team ALL AMERICAN in his frosh year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3h3Ay45Uf0 What a game!!! Roselle Catholic at their place playing TPS. AJ was the 3rd announced and started but played few mins. VALDIR wears Bob Cousy's #. Fitting for a Celtic. TPS lost by 2 to a State champ. VALDIR is very athletic with offensive moves to attack the rim and scores from everywhere. When he signed at Penn State last fall this is what Coach Chambers said about him. "Valdir is going to thrive in the Big Ten with his talent and physical abilities," Penn State head coach Patrick Chambers said of Manuel upon signing his letter of intent in November. "He creates a mismatch no matter who is guarding him and has the skillset to play both inside and on the perimeter." Rivals national recruiting analyst Corey Evans echoed the sentiment upon Manuel's commitment to the Nittany Lions last October. "Hard, hard playing dude! College ready body," Evans said. "Has a decent skillset from 12-feet and in. High motor guy that runs the floor and is a good athlete around the basket. Shot blocker and rebounder that will impact the program immediately thanks to physical traits. Tone setter in the paint."

We have danced with this kid before. He has been linked with Seton Hall, St.John's,Penn State and others. Believe the issue to be academic irregularities.

Wgt, to your question I thought it was in the penn st article, not sure if it was announcing his signing with penn state or that he was being released from his commitment to psi. Great high to video roselle catholic vs st Patrick’s. By great, I thought the level of play by both teams was exceptional. I believe AJ was also an announced starter in that game for st Patrick’s. And if Justin knows Vlladir as well, that would be aMother plus as well. The I can t recall if it was the psu article, but it sounded like vladir had two, maybe three years of eligibility. I would say do the due diligence and see what the issues are I would have no difficulty giving the last scholarship to vladir, even if he had ro sit one year. I stand corrected on my “raw talent” description for vladir, he could clearly help us right away.

The only way I would take him is so we could red shirt him. This would allow him to catch up academically, and play with our senior laden NCAA team, and then become a starter the following year.

Is this the player to be named later in the Brockington trade?👍

Manuel played 2 years for Harcum College, therefore he has 2 years of eligibility, and as a JC transfer would be able to play immediately. I still would like to redshirt him, but will cross that bridge if this ever happens.....

In watching the video of Jermaine, I saw a smooth player, who hustles, and gets in position to score... www.ncsasports.org/mens-basketball-recruiting/new-york/rochester/mcquaid-jesuit-high-school/jermaine-taggartA sidepoint, while watching the game vs Victor, one person stood out to me on the Victor squad......you will notice him, becasue he is big, really big, and wears number 55. So I did some research....his name is Connor Williams, he is a Junior, and is 7'1", actual weight I could not find, but would guess closer to 400 than 300.

I guess I'll call it a sign of good things to come. The preferred walk ons, Josh Bell and Jermaine Taggert, continue to raise the status of the Bonnies hoops program. While it remains to be seen what their contributions might be, these are guys who could have gone somewhere else, now it might have been D2 or a lower D1 program, but they both clearly have talent. Maybe it's adding to the competitiveness of practice, at this point we don't know how much they will contribute, but to me it's a sign of the program's ability to attract kid's and a willingness of the coaching staff to find more kids that want the chance to play at a high level.
I'm am still hopeful that the AJ/Justin connection to Vladir Manuel, and our staffs ability to make the pitch to be part of a group on the rise will convince Vladir, he can be a part of something great. I have no idea, if we are on Vladir's radar, but he is clearly talented, yes he's another junior, but we've been building for these two years for maybe the last five or six years and I say let's be as good as we possibly can and we'll go from there. I say give coach all the talent he can assemble for the next two years. Go Bonnies.

Wonder if there is a relationship with Rochester Bona Target, Kidtrell Blocker. Bonnies have had Blocker visit and believe the 6'4 combo is prepping in Tenn.
