I now get Saulius points - we ahould not be the local college choice for Rochester (or Erie) students. First of all, Naz has not been a Catholic School for over 20 years - so there is one huge difference. Second, as SD pointed out, SJF is a big commuter school. I do not know how much "school spirit" it has. Been to college BB games there, and if you took away the parents and the girlfriends of the players, the crowd was really tiny. And when my daughter was looking at Mercyhurst (because they offered a Fashion minor), I asked the dean of students what do kids do on the weekend. They said back to me "the ones that stay for the weekend?". And that was the end of the conversation for my daughter. She wanted a school that felt like a real college experience. And those three do not offer that. The education at all three is good, but it is not a college experience that I wanted, or that I wanted for my kids.

I understood you SD. Not really sure we are "Competing" for exactly the same students. Do you really want a kid at Bona's that is afraid or not ready to move away from mommy? I don't. So those schools serve a purpose for those kids. As does the D3 athletics.

Or, to speak in reality...3 small private institutions of higher learning with comparable tuition and fees that have undergraduate and graduate programs...no need to disrespect them in the same manner that SBU gets disrespected from SU, and other giant universities Agree to disagree, I guess. I have never met someone who went to those schools that didn't grow up within 15 minutes of them. Not to say they don't exist, just my experience. I am in the middle of calculating how much gas money our family could have saved from 2006-2010 if Nazareth was only 15 minutes, and not 5 1/2 hours from our home. Probably enough to buy a couple of those fancy new Padres tee shirts.
