Weather report - high 70's no rain
So, if you plan to attend the reunion this weekend, and have not registered ( not just said you plan to attend) call the alumni office at 716-375-2302 to let us know you will be attending your class dinner on Friday or alumni social on Saturday - leave your name and class year. Pay at registration desk on Friday
Meal tickets for the breakfasts and Saturday lunch can also be purchased at the Shay/Lo lobby registration anytime over the weekend.
One highlight for the bandwagon fans Saturday 1 p.m.: Happy Anniversary, Bonnies! Quick Center, Rigas Theater. Bona Hall of Famer Jim Satalin, ’69, longtime NCAA referee Pat Driscoll, ’89, and New York Post columnist Mike Vaccaro, ’89, kick off the 100th season of the Bonnies at a roundball roundtable with Tom Missel, former beat writer of the Bonnies and SBU’s chief communications officer. This is free event.

I know George Carter, Paul Stepenback, and Roger Bauer were starters. John Riley and Billy Butler also saw starts. This team included both Frannie and Jim Satalin and Ed Ahearn. I think John McCleod was also on this team.

I think John McCleod was also on this team. Here is a partial roster from the 1963-64 Brown Indians roster : Crawford; Wood; Aiken; Mahonchak; Bauer; Riley; Breslin. This team lost to Army in the NIT first round game in Madison Sq Garden on March 15, 1964. By the way Crawford's number 14 is retired, along with the many other Bona greats......13 - Ken Murray, Jr.; 22 and 42 Sam and Tom Stith; 34 Whitey Martin; 25 Essie Hollis and Earl Belcher; 31 Big Bob Lanier; 44 AN.

Looking at this schedule that wouldn't have been a big difference from what we were doing here. Even if that rumor was not true, couldn't we have sold Gavitt on the idea of having the Buffalo market? If we were part of the Big East we could have also gotten a very decent home schedule in Olean. Instead of Baldwin Wallace and St. Joe's Indiana we could have gotten current A-10 teams. It is not going to change now, but that certainly is a Big if to wonder about. Being a part of the Big East in the 80's would have changed our program and university.

Joe is the best. He’s a Bona institution. He has been steadily building and assisting the St. Bonaventure alumni community since back in my day. He deserves a ‘thank you’ or tip of the hat when you see him at games or on campus. ‘Course when I attended he was a youngster and now he’s approaching middle-age.

People complain about taking a game out of the RC and sending it to Rochester. Just look at that mouthwatering "home" schedule of yore. Five "college" division teams and Niagara.

Freddie Crawford wore #54. Not according to the SBU Media Guide Press book - according to this reference source both Bill "Butts" Butler 1966 - 1968 and Fred "Freddie" Crawford 1960 - 1964 (NBA Knick and Brave) also wore 14, no mention of 54.
