Freddie Crawford wore #54. Not according to the SBU Media Guide Press book - according to this reference source both Bill "Butts" Butler 1966 - 1968 and Fred "Freddie" Crawford 1960 - 1964 (NBA Knick and Brave) also wore 14, no mention of 54. 54

BUTLER'S #14 and CRAWFORD'S #54 are both retired. 2 of my all time favorite Bonnies!

His career would have even been greater if it wasn't for contracting Tuberculosis during his sophomore year (60/61). He sat out the next year, then came back for 2 more years. His first year back, he was to be teamed with Miles Aiken, but he had a minutes limit, and Miles got injured, and a team that fell very much short of expectations (they finished 13-12), as injuries, chemistry had negative effect....in fact by year end the best players on the intramural teams were wearing the Brown & White (Brian McRedmond, Tom Nientemp, Tim Hudson and Jim Breslin).

I watched a documentary a couple years ago on NYC's legendary Rucker Park, where many NBA stars have been schooled in street ball and it was our very own Freddie Crawford who co-founded the Rucker Pro League! The story goes... Freddie was a legend in his own right on the playgrounds of NYC, and a great friend of Holcombe Rucker who was the playground director at NYC Parks & Rec. When Rucker died of cancer very young, Crawford and others (then in the NBA) who loved Rucker dearly and played in his Rucker Tournament, a yearly legendary event to help kids get scholarships, paid to rename the playground "Rucker Park" and created the now legendary Rucker Pro League. I can't even tell you what the name of the documentary was that I watched but it was made fairly recently and they interviewed Crawford and others who told some amazing stories over the years about Rucker Park, where Wilt Chamberlain, Dr. J., Kareem Abdul Jabbar, recently Kobe, Durant, Irving, etc.... I could go on and on....played. I did not want the documentary to end it was so cool. Crawford also had nice things to say about St. Bonaventure. I can't remember exactly what was said but basically he said something to the effect - that everyone who was anyone on the playground at the time was trying to go to St. Bonaventure

Thanks Tasty and MTG. I didn't know of Fred Crawford's connection to Rucker Park. Attached is a 4 minute video of Fred Crawford and Bob McCullough starting the Rucker Tournament in honor of their mentor Holcombe Rucker. From the video -- 10,000 people would be in attendance for the games at Rucker Park. It shows people sitting on roof of buildings to watch the games. -- says there were games played by street ballers against pros and more often than not the street ballers would win. -- at the conclusion of this video there is a video of Rucker Park all stars against NBA players. It is only a couple minutes long with short video clips of the 1st half. Two players mentioned on the NBA team were Worthy and Floyd, who I would assume is James Worthy and Eric Floyd, who were both 23 at the time(so it fits). Rucker Park all stars were leading by 7 at halftime. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rivi5RHoHU

Safe travel to all. no doubt a wonderful time will be had.
Sats and Vaccaro will be pleased that fjs64 will be on hand to provide perspective on the Tom Stith era.

At least two members of the final four team will be at the reunion this weekend - Mike Kull and Gene Fahey. I am assuming they will be at the roundball roundtable.

Speaking of reunion updates, where are Frank's? He must have had time to do his scouting by now. Man, you must be the psychic. All weekend, I was scouting different Frank's Red Hot products.
The original Frank's dude it's balanced not too spicy not too weak. Good vinegar flavor bro.
Buffalo style Frank's man pal not so much. Too flat and buttery buddy boy it is to better to make yer own.
Extra hot it's good buddy I use it a cuppa times but only if it is the mood! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Sweet chili sauce oh no buck no. Too sweet buddy this ain't the orient. If I wanna buy the chili sauce buddy boy I just buy something from the Asian section at Tops.
Gotta get to some of the others today pal but boy oh boy am I excited. So far, stick with the original Frank's Red Hot that is my scouting report.
Robert Carpenter has been extremely impressive this summer. Great all around game and really solid jumper for a forward.

Wondering what the Bandwagon record is for most members blocking a single contributor?
