Speaking of reunion updates, where are Frank's? He must have had time to do his scouting by now. Man, you must be the psychic. All weekend, I was scouting different Frank's Red Hot products. The original Frank's dude it's balanced not too spicy not too weak. Good vinegar flavor bro. Buffalo style Frank's man pal not so much. Too flat and buttery buddy boy it is to better to make yer own. Extra hot it's good buddy I use it a cuppa times but only if it is the mood! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Sweet chili sauce oh no buck no. Too sweet buddy this ain't the orient. If I wanna buy the chili sauce buddy boy I just buy something from the Asian section at Tops.
Gotta get to some of the others today pal but boy oh boy am I excited. So far, stick with the original Frank's Red Hot that is my scouting report. Robert Carpenter has been extremely impressive this summer. Great all around game and really solid jumper for a forward.
.
Listen to me very carefully LESTER I am NOT an angry person but you do NOT interrupt Little People Big World with this CRAP and you will let us speak without interrupting us. Sweet Chili sauce is the second best Reds Hot flavor behind classic and you will NOT disagree with me or talk bad about Sweet Chili Sauce. You gotta be the STUPIDEST poster on this whole board. Now you will listen to us when we speak to you and you will REORDER your Franks Red Hot list. I've HAD IT with your CRAP. Do it NOW, or else.

Speaking of reunion updates, where are Frank's? He must have had time to do his scouting by now. Yes, I was at Bona's this weekend, checking on the players while sharing memories with my classmates....one thing for sure, we are getting older.....class of '64 was showing it's age, canes, help needed climbing steps, taking a little longer to get from step A to B, but sharp minds and great sense of humor, and yes, great love for each other, and for little old St Bonaventure. The weather certainly cooperated. The campus looked beautiful, it was about as perfect as one could ask for. The highlight session was the roundtable, it wasn't quite a round table, but 4 chairs on stage, with Tom Missel (SBU's chief communications officer) leading the session, with Jim Satalin ('69 and now selected as one of the Alumni of the year), Pat Driscoll ('89) and Mike Vaccaro ('89). It was really terrific, I hope that it was video taped, because it is something that each of you should see/hear. I was sitting near the front, so I can't tell you who was there, but it was a great audience, I did see Steve Mest, Matt Pappano, some former basketball players. I attended a session presided by the President, talking about an incoming class of over 500, talked about the campaign and the goal of $50 million, an anonymous gift of 5 Million (thank you res), and how well things are going. He announced that a Friar who is coming to Bona's from the Vatican, Fr Russell Murray, he is 6' 7"......so in the Q&A session I of course asked if Mark was recruiting him.....and obviously with a name like Murray, he has a uniform number that is hung in the rafters already (for those that don't know, uniform #13 is retired for Ken Murray).....actually that question got a bunch of laughs, which was my intent....my serious question regarding the dorms and space. He said we are OK, enough dorm rooms to satisfy our needs. I did talk to some of the ball players. On Friday, myself and a couple of others cornered Robert Carpenter and Jaren English, they were not going to get away until they heard about Tom & Sam, and Freddie, the game we lost to Ohio State, and so much more. Really good kids, in fact I talked to/at Jaren a couple more times the last being at the Richter, when he was shooting alone (didn't want me to rebound for him, as he was waiting for Coach Neal). Kyle and Jaren were in the Hickey when I talked with them, and did ask how he got chosen to be on the Jerry West, SG, watch list. He had no idea. Jaren said it was because a few times Kyle played off the ball when Kaputo was on the court. A little later as I was leaving the Hickey bumped into Justin Winston (was walking with Robert). I said hello, and he actually remembered bumping into me at the Barclay. Didn't get a chance to see any other players on the team, but these are really good kids, and I had so many more questions, but you can't be too pushy, but they handled it well. Working the reunion were a few players from the women's team. Working the desk were Amanda Oliver, Dajah Logan, Carrie Jornlin and Asianae Johnson. They were class kids, handling the alums very well. They were so happy when I mentioned that I watched their games, and it really opened up the line of communications, and as is my duty, I talked about the history of Bona Basketball with them. Later, when going to the Saturday night banquet, which was in the RC, the ticket collectors were Deja Francis and Asianae Johnson......Deja was surprised I knew who she was, and Asianae chimed in, he knows. Hopefully I can add more later.

Hearing that the St. Bonaventure shrubs in front of the chapel are going to be removed. I Don't really think that is a good idea. Those are kind of iconic at this point.

Apparently lurking deer feel that the shrubs are scrumptious and make it a point to regularly scarf them. I'm sure that any replacement will be attractive as well as inedible.

Kind of strange deer have not been a problem for the past however many decades the bush signage has been up. This is a small time move....”oh look bill saved $800 this year on landscaping” attaboy Bill. 🙄 I’ll wait to see the new signage until further comment but I don’t share your confidence.

Robert Carpenter has been extremely impressive this summer.Great all around game and really solid jumper for a forward. I heard the same about Robert. I also hear Rob is the same height as Justin Winston, but is bigger. Defending Amadi, Rob showed he can play solid interior defense. On offense Rob showed he has a good looking jump shot and can post up players in the paint.

The shrubs were also covered with snow a good part of every winter and barely/not visible. I don't see the need for replacing them with signage as adequate signage exists at the main entrance to SBU just off State Road. Saving the ongoing shrub replacement $$$ and using them toward a real maintenance need (like the renovation of the Francis rooms) makes perfect sense.

Somehow I don't think the choice presented to the board was either the shrubs or Francis Hall renovation...........

The signature scrub design of St Bonaventure University is timeless in nature, it adds to the incredible beauty of the campus. It needs to be preserved and nurtured not destroyed for some tawdry modernist design. Keep the traditions alive! Go Bonas! Go Brown and White!

" tawdry modernist design" is the name of my new hipster improv team in Brooklyn, thanks for the idea!
