A-10 performance on Tuesday 11/5 - No impressive wins, no devastating losses... other than the obvious one...
(KenPom) ratings are through Tuesday, November 5th
Bonnies (148) lose to Ohio (190) and GW (224) loses to Towson (151)
Duquesne (95) erased a 14 point 1st half deficit to Princeton (202), scored 57 in the 2nd half and won by 27
Best win was St. Joes (211) over Bradley (146)
George Mason (156) losing to Navy (312) would have been inexcusable. Won in overtime.

Not an A-10 game but didn’t want to start a new thread.
Rutgers barely beat Bryant at home. 98-95.

Davidson did not look good and was easily handled by UNCC ( a Conference USA ) middle of the pack team. Davidson fell 71-58 tonight. It wasn't even a close game. UNCC led by around 18 - 20 much of the game. Davidson only put up 22 points in the first half. Grady played well. Gudmundsson did not look good. Tonight Davidson was not a good basketball team. UNCC had their way from beginning to end. If Davidson plays anything like this in A10 conference play, they will have a very long season.

Perhaps.
But UNCC dominated them in all aspects of the game.
UNCC has fallen on hard times. Halton Arena is no advantage. The few students who do show up, sit under the baskets and there is little noise. Kind of amazing for a school that has 30,000 or so students and a proud basketball history. Older alumni sit behind both benches. UNCC has lost 20 or more games the last two seasons. It is really hard to watch UNCC at Halton as this once proud program is now struggling tremendously. UNCC lost their opener by five to James Madison so I am doubtful that UNCC will be any sort of powerhouse this year. Davidson ( which is only 20 miles and a 20 minute drive away) showed up with a whopping 40 - 50 fans. Something of an embarrassment from my perspective.
Announced attendance was 4,341 but there is no way there were that many people there. We estimated about 1,800 - 2,000 bodies in the seats. I believe Halton holds 9,100. There is some discussion that next year's game may be played at the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte. The Spectrum Center is where the NBA Hornet's play. It has a capacity of 19,077. We're hoping that this would be part of a Saturday doubleheader of some sort. Otherwise, putting 2,000 people in a 19,077 capacity arena would be a major embarrassment for both schools.

sbu79: When I attended UNCC for graduate school from 2008-2010, there wasn't any local rivalry factor between Davidson and UNCC - and I doubt that there is now. ready2go: Good summary there. I'll add that in the OOC during the 2008-09 season, Davidson played NC State at the Spectrum Center (might have been called something different) and that was highly attended but mostly by NC State fans (also included superstars David Robinson and LeBron James in attendance). For either Davidson or UNCC to play in Charlotte, you would need a bigger school draw like a State, UNC, or Duke. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore?gameId=283412166Also agree with ready2go about the hard times with UNCC basketball which is a shame because they were making the NCAA tournament regularly in the years before joining the A10. Since I first walked on campus, they've only made the NIT twice with 0 NCAA appearances.

It really grew when Davidson joined the A10. Remember there are a lot of basketball fans at Charlotte from when they were good and their A10 days. They didn't like leaving the A10 and starting football and they don't like Davidson getting all of the attention they have gotten from their move to the A10 and overtaking them in the Charlotte market. It is a real rivalry.

St Joe's with a big win at UConn 96 - 87. They have some good looking freshmen. Cameron Brown a 6' 5" guard, Chereef Knox a 6' 5" forward and the best looking one was Rahmir Moore 6' 3" guard out of Philadelphia. He was outstanding down the stretch. Ryan Daly a 6' 3" junior guard had 30 points.

Thanks, Metman. I'm hanging in there. It's all about the power of prayer and the physical and psych fitness necessary to prepare for a major surgical procedure, when the time arrives. And also preparation for life post-op. It will be THE biggest challenge going forward. And I will face it head-on.
