Melouk is a serious shooter very much in the mold of a Davison recruit. This kid for his size plays the game with a high motor and his jumper looks text book perfect. Does have shot blocking ability with his reach in the 70's but like other international players he mixes it up as a rebounder. Love to have him and put an emphatic positive stamp on this recruiting class.

I see we offered Mellouk. What if he accepts before Ridgnal does, do we take both? That will use up all the scholarships. I say take both. Good move but I posed this question last week when news broke on Estrada still deciding on us vs. 3 others. Does a school have right to take offer off the table at any time? Estrada--who says he decides today--is last thing we need now, a pure guard. Mellouk at least fits the bill for a bigger man.
Also, if we offered him today then Schmidt has already broken his vow to stick with just 11 ships...which is fine....
And I'd wager that Schmidt getting a vibe from Rignal that he is a longshot...

I am not sure we actually did offer Estrada. Just because he included us in his top 4 does not necessarily mean we did. You are taking a scholarship "offer" too literally. They are often contingent on the status of other players recruitment. The Letter of Intent or Grant In Aid committing the scholarship must be signed by player AND the school. Yes a school can take an offer off of the table. The scholarship is also for one year and renewable each year. Lastly, Schmidt didn't vow to stick to 11 scholarships. He simply answered a question on a podcast as he was thinking at the time.

A couple of things.
From those of you who might have seen more of Quintin Metcalf's game, how does he compare to Anouar Mellouk's game? I can just recall a video of Quintin running across the guy and doing this monster dunk. I can't remember much of actual game footage. Hoping somebody can provide some insight.
Secondly, in the Piedmont sports report I linked on Anouar, Anouar said that the offer from Central Michigan was great because he loved cold weather.
Actually this is a third thing, if we offered Anouar and he accepted I would take him, that said I would hold the ship out there for Dalen, if he takes it well we've got a full house. If he doesn't were set unless Jesus has some eligibility. You only live once.

Is Dalen waiting on more offers? So far the response from committs seemed to happen qiuckly. Todays offer has me feeling the staff is moving on.

Estrada just landed in Hofstra, so that takes care of that distraction...

Think the Ridgnal ship sailed when we got Brown, but you never know. Best thing for us to get would be a freshman big like Mellouk or someone else like that for the 12th scholarship, since we definitely won’t use all 13.

ANOUAR MELLOUK video. I have never seen a player attempting to leap and KISS the rim.
Johnathan Kirkland @jkirkland_1 Mar 14 Anouar Mellouk 6’8 2020 of Fork Union is not only able to get up on the rim, but he has a smooth shot as well. An agile player that can play multiple positions. #PhenomPGNationals
FUMA Strength @fumastrength PG BB’s Anouar Mellouk from October to March. Anouar had the second biggest clean at 215lbs, and the third heaviest squat at 315lbs! Strong, tough kid with a great work ethic! #strong #tough

I don't have to read more. Us offering was not because the BW'ers got excited, the staff clearly see something in Anouar just like all of us do. The difference being they've done their due diligence and like what they see. I don't know about weight lifting and college hoops players but those numbers, cleaning 215 lbs and squatting 315 lbs for a guy who looks to be 185-190 tops is pretty damn impressive. I don't think I've ever come across a recruit who said they love cold weather. I'm not sure if there has been a conversation with Joymar and our coaches, but I would assume that's the case and I would think Joymar, knows his game and knows his as a person as well that to me, would go a long way in the trust department. I can see no reason why we don't go all out and see if we can close the deal. In the Bonnies case we will probably never have a top 25 or even top 50 class, although you never know. We've got so many guys this year alone that are good ball players know that could end up being great ball players. If Anouar joins the fold and I hope he does, this is going to be a fun group to watch. What I wouldn't give to sitting on the floor of the RC and watching the old and new go at it. Joryam thanks for the double duty, there is no recommendation that's better than one coming from a friend.

The Mellouk highlight videos are ridiculous. I know everyone looks like a star in their highlight reels, but Mellouk looks like he's playing against middle school kids out there.

thanks, wgt
I find it hard to let go of the possibility that we might sign Dalen Ridgnal.
That said, there is a load of evidence to say that Anouar Mellouk, is a young star in the making. He's only played basketball for 4-5 years, amazing.
Let yourself dream a bit, we've got veteran help in Karim Coulibaly, Linton Brown and Quadry Adams. And Karim and Linton could have 3 more years and Quadry, in terms of eligibility would be in the same class with Duro, Justin NT, Joryam and Anouar, who all would have four years. This coming year they'll be asked to contribute on a team that was already a very good team. How would you like to go forward with that plan. We've made a really good team even stronger for next year, not only in terms of a deeper rotation, but also the day to day learning that happens in practice. And we've been so focused on next year, balancing those needs with what comes next has always seemed to be an issue that we'd like to not think about and now as we try to add what we think might he our last piece, the staff has done a pretty outrageous job of allowing the Bonnies nation to have their cake and eat it to. WOW.
Anouar Mellouk, you are one talented young man, with a great story, we'd like you to join with Joymar and be a part of our story. We know we have the potential to be at the very least a top 25 team, but you know just like the other ten guys who have made the commitment to make this team the best that they can be, that it's the work, not the potential. Bonaventure is a great place to develop as a person and as a basketball player, it's a place for gym rats who understand that nothing is given everything is earned.
We'd be jazzed if you'd join us. Go Bonnies

Dalen Ridgnal, who was recently offered by the Bonnies, commits to Georgia.
