DAMANI BARLEY, 6-5 PG/SG from East High in Rochester was on campus last night for an unofficial. Posted a picture of himself with Coach LOWE. DAMANI's dad DARRELL, formef Canisius player and coach at East High, posted a picture from the RC saying how strange it was sitting in the stands at BONA.

His dad Darryl sure knows how the RC rocks as he played for Canisius and brought them to the dance in 96. No doubt he will share with his son his first hand experience of the passion of Bona fans. Darryl will be well prepared for DIV I after being coached by his dad at East HS. Known as a no nonsense coach who expects the best from his team and especially his sons. DAMANI's East HS is ranked #4 in NYS this season and he is a dominant factor. Here you see his play this past summer as he enters his junior year at East HS. His HS stats show he is a trey threat you penetrates and finishes. youtu.be/ajgT5reHXGk

It would be great to see us re-open the pipeline with East in Rochester that produced Mark Jones and as a transfer, Mike Sheehey...We need to try to win some of these battles for players closer to home...

Jonesy was the man and Mike Sheehey was certainly a solid Bonnie - just wish "little" Bro Tommy would have followed big Bro down to Olean as well. Perhaps O'Brien would have stayed on a little longer and the DeCarli debacle would have been avoided ...

Pipeline??? I think Dominic Welch is the only Wny player on the team...don’t know who was the last Rochester player...local players can affect the level of fan and media interest, even student recruitment.

TG - I believe coach might have gone back a little too far for your memory. Just to name a couple - Do the WNY names Hagan and Lanier ring a bell ?

John Hayes one of the greatest WNY highschoolers of all-time

Yes: there is a long list of former wny players that enrolled at bona...lately Welch is pretty solitary...a current miss is jeenathan Williams at u.b. Other big misses Christian laettner, cliff robinson Just thinking that bona could make a better effort “discovering” area talent...which also drives area fan interest. Developing marginal players and discovering unrecruited talents can be done in ny as well as at distant and obscure locations in the south and Midwest.
