—- As a 6’7” senior at Hylton, Lucas was NOVA’s (Northern Virginia) player of the week for December 12-18, 2021. He scored more than half of his team’s points with 33. Attached is NOVA website with MVP announcement and video highlight of this game.
—- 31 games averaged 15.1 ppg, shot: field 57%, threes 29%, free throw 51%.

Enrolled at Bosco Institute (post grad program). Found just 2 Boxscores.
—- Boxscore 1: with Parkland College on 2-11-23. Scored 8 points (6-6 at line) and 7 rebounds. Bosco high scorers in game were 6’6” Cayden Vasko (24 points) and 6’7”Aaron Humphrey (20 points). Cayden signed with Central Michigan and Aaron Humphrey with St. Francis (PA).
-- Boxscore 2 on 2-26-23: tied with 4 other players as 3rd leading scorer with 12 points.
-- Lucas played against 2 players Bona recruited, Sheridan Sharpe and Zane Doughty of Ben Davis high school. Ben Davis finished season ranked 15th Max Prep and 17th in ESPN high school poll. On 2-21-23, Ben Davis won 88-53.
—- Has 2 D1 offers with Valpo and Central Michigan.

— Lucas Scroggins has displayed pro length (6’11 wingspan)& athleticism to go along with a good skill set. Finishes plays with dunks and protects the rim. Capable to stretch the floor and get to the rim quickly with 1-2 dribbles. Sky is the limit!
— Lucas Scroggins continues to evolve into a impactful BIG at the next level.His ability to finish above the rim& protect the rim combined with a good face up game has grown significant in the last 90 days.Still only 18 years old.

Comparison to Melian.
— Melian had 5 D1 offers. Lucas has 2.
— Melian is a significantly better athlete. Much better shot blocker. Melian has Osun athleticism, while Lucas has very good athleticism.
— Lucas has much better offensive skills.
— If Lucas signs with Bona, have to believe he will be have red shirt year, like Melian. Red shirt or not, Lucas would be 13th scholarship.

Above doesn’t support Schmidt using his valued 13th scholarship, which he has never used. Schmidt must look at Lucas like BJIF’s description “intriguing with high potential.”

Thanks also to Chuck, other than tweets I couldn’t find out much about Lucas Scroggins.

I think I m with BJIF, that either the coaches see something or they don t and of course Lucas and his family will weigh in as well.

For Bona s it s looking at the puppies feet and seeing if they will grow into them. That’s what a track and cross country coach at the University of Minnesota used to say to me when I would have the opportunity to present the academic side of things. The coach would talk about seeing a two times state champion and say that’s great but in my opinion I think they have plateaued. We are trying to find that diamond in the rough. Bosco is obviously pitching their guy who they feel has over the course of the last couple of months really started to put it together.

LUCAS is very young for the post grad experience he has had. Potentially he has a very high ceiling.

Verbal Commits is reporting ST. BONAVENTURE has offered 6-8 220 RICHARD BRISCO of Roselle(NJ) Catholic.

SIP, could be I ve missed something but everything I see on Richard Bristol says he s a class of 2024 guy.

That said he has played on a couple of outstanding Roselle Catholic teams, and it would appear that this coming year would be his time to shine. Offers from TCU and Nebraska in ‘21, and more recently GW, UB and a number of mid majors.
