Hey it's Friday! Super excited about Duane Thompson, who we have been thinking all along is going to be a 2024 recruit, now looks as thought he could well be a 2023 recruit. At 6'8" and 215, it's not much a reach to think that he could help us out rebounding wise and from what we've seen he can really shoot the ball as well, another three point guy, front court help. Hoping Duane has a great visit. Welcome to St Bonaventure! PSA West with Barry, Charles and Miles either here or on the way.

I saw this piece on Sheridan Sharp, 6'3" PG, who committed earlier to Nichols St. The article was written during Sheridn's junior year at Ben Davis High School in Indiana. Sheridan's teammate, 6'9" Zane Doughty combined with Sharp to spark Ben Davis to a state championship at the 4A, highest level, Indiana State Championship, Ben Davis went 33-0. Doughty was on our radar for a couple of weeks ago before choosing in-state suitor Ball State. Sharp, like Doughty was All State Indiana. ny2lasports.com/article_one.aspx?articleid=5261Some more on Sheridan Sharp....puled a couple of exerts from the Boilermaker's version of the BW Sheridan Sharp is a pure PG and has a great feel for the game, check out all his assists in his highlights, many against other top Indiana teams. He's got a combination of fluidity and explosiveness that you don't see often and good passing awareness to go along with it. And, finally some highlights, albeit from Sheridan's junior year, to make my over hyping complete. Apparently Sheridan visited Immaculate Word in Texas back in January and felt it was too far from home. Makes the Illinois State offer perhaps tough to beat, but we get to Dayton, Chicago and St Louis and Indy is not that far away from western New York. IMO, this guy can play take a look. www.hudl.com/video/3/15063334/61c368165caa740298fe45c1

A lot of skills shown in that video, both on offense (scoring on all three levels, plus imaginative passing), and on D (very pesky, pain-in-the-butt defender). Interesting prospect, do we know when he’s visiting?

Underrated! Would love to be a bug on the wall for this young man's visit. Played with the top level of big schools in Indiana, started really coming on his junior year. Seems to see the court well. All State Indiana point guard is no small thing. Sheridan IMO would not be a place keeper, he would challenge for minutes, wiht assumption we are going to expand bench minutes this year, having someone like Sheridan to come in and rev things up would be a real plus. I mentioned that Sheridan took a January visit to Immaculate Word in Dallas and concluded it was too far from home. Illinois State and Southern Illinois in that sense is tough comp. What I believe we can offer is a chance to rally up his game, we've got some veteran guards, a young nucleus in the front court, with a couple of really solid bigs, in order to make the run we would like to make, we need to have two guys who can play the point. I see Luc and Sheridan having different skills sets and I can see both helping us. We know it and I'm sure the coaches will emphasize it but we've had some great point guards over the last 8+ years and that role is pivotal in keeping the ball moving, we've improved our offense with the addition of Charles Pride, Duane Thompson is going to be a contributor this year. I believe Sheridan comes in and we are set for next year at the point, we'll be looking a adding scoring guards next year and have minutes there. Welcome to campus Sheridan, this is a great chance to showcase your talents in another part of the country. You would be given the opportunity to be a key part of this team. We are a small school yes, but with a loyal, national following. Sheridan's interview on his role at the point. www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/12/18/ihsaa-basketball-sheridan-sharp-leads-no-1-ben-davis-past-brownsburg-indiana-high-school/69735053007/

Dunga, from your post I am excited that Sharp might have committed to Bona's, or is this just celebrating his visit to the Enchanted Mountains? Hoping we get some great news about this superb point guard we so desparately need.

He hasn't committed yet, but it does seem from that photo that he enjoyed his time here (crossing fingers)

Whoa. I haven’t been paying attention close enough. Has he been mentioned here before as a target or is he the 2023 version of the near annual name-out-of-nowhere-surprise recruit? I presume he’s a point guard based on the impressive assist stats, particularly the assist-to-turnover ratio. Assuming he is and is anticipated to challenge Luc and help develop him, I like the fact the staff brought in a grad transfer to fill that role instead of, or along with, a freshman or a younger, less experienced transfer. Successful experience means a ton at the point, and this guy has plenty both in his prep career and at a quality program against high-level competition at Cincinnati. And he makes free throws at a high level - something critical for a point in the A10, or anywhere really. Let’s just jump to November and get this season started.
