I hate to be the negative Nancy about the polls but let’s face it I doubt we see the top 25 The rest of the year. It is not for anything we do wrong but let’s face it again it seems like people are always looking for reasons not to put a school like us in the polls. We go to 2-0, lose our court general and still win, yet lost votes. I get that other teams had better weeks but it seems like schools like ours are the ones that drop for doing nothing wrong but winning. I don’t want to hear about spreads being the reason, a win is a win when you look at all of the non-conference craziness.

I don’t agree, when doing the top 25 you should vote who the best 25 teams are in the nation at that time. The pollsters had no issues putting us 16th at one point and would have went up if we didn’t lose to a team at home that has only beaten a D3 team other than us. Then if you look at this week we played Coppin State who was 1-9 and we were losing into the second half! Coppin state got beat by almost 60 points against Loyola who isn’t even receiving votes. I also think in the back of their heads we lost our captain and don’t see us as one of the top 25. The good thing is these rankings don’t mean a hill of beans. Just control what we can on the court.

If we beat UConn on Saturday then we can talk about the Bonnies returning to the top 25

That UNI loss was a costly game in many ways. Of course, many other things were happening in the background. Marquette got blown out by Wisconsin. Clemson lost to Miami.

That UNI loss was a costly game in many ways. Of course, many other things were happening in the background. Marquette got blown out by Wisconsin. Clemson lost to Miami. As of now Marquette are only big NET win of year (and they just got blown out) so can't blame AP. Also, we'd be in better shape if kept that 25 point margin vs. Marquette. Shaka keeping regulars in and pressing to the end clearly playing the NET game. Schmidt did not, but can't blame him.....But I wonder if Schmidt second guesses anything he or team did not do preparing for UNI. It's true a guy went nuts with the treys against us--but other good teams survive that at home and do not have a Quad 4 loss which will haunt us--at least at NET--for most of year.

Don’t disagree with anything you said but my thoughts were really based on the whole process. It just seems that at times schools like ours are not afforded the same consideration regardless of what we do. Was the UNI a bad loss, yes regardless of what people on this board think. We cannot afford bad loses. The wins should never count against us which I think sometimes how we beat teams hurts us when it should not. I completely get what you are saying about the best 25, I just don’t think on a 2-0 week we should have lost anyone’s votes.

I'm not surprised in the slightest.
1. The writers know our leader is injured. 2. It's not just if you win but how you win. Tied with UB, and battling with Coppin? 3. We moved up significantly on the strength of a blowout Marquette win, its logical that a loss, combined with poor showings and an injury would drop us.
Beat UConn and there's no argument to keep us out.

Hey guys, we are sugarcoating things. We lost to UNI, we scraped by Coppin and then won a buzzer beater at home. Yes, we lost our floor leader, but those 3 games is not going to convince anyone we are top 25.
We need to beat uconn, period.

Better to lag behind early and climb slowly during the conference schedule than vice versa. I like that depth is being developed and hope Coach Schmidt can lengthen the even more.

We all love the Bonnies. At least most of us do. We are NOT playing like a top 25 team. It has nothing to do with one loss to NIU or us getting “jobbed” by pollsters. Other than the Marquette game we haven’t been impressive or consistent.
UConn has struggled at times — but I am glad they are #15. Hope they win @wvu this Wednesday. But my gut tells me UConn will struggle Wed with their injuries and probably play better vs us Saturday.
Either way we just need to keep chopping wood. Get Ws any way we can until Kyle returns. Then hopefully we can start hitting on all cylinders with a few more players in the mix, gaining more confidence.
Frankly, I’m surprised Dayton got zero votes. How many teams are playing better than the flyers the last 2 to 3 weeks?

Our top 25 ranking has garnered lots of attention, excitement, pride and national recognition. Our enrollment and recruiting will benefit.
Hopefully our upcoming play will merit a return to the top 25. If not, the most important thing is how we are playing at the END of the season. As we follow our rankings hopefully our players have tunnel vision focus on the next game up.
Making hay in Feb and March is when you want to be firing on all cylinders with a healthy team. There will be LOTS of up and downs between now and then.
