It is pretty incredible that we lost that game. We took 15 more shots than URI and they had twice as many turnovers!! say what you want about the offense but I think it is too much aggression on defense. URI wasnt even running plays they were just driving right to the rim and they were rewarded. -Maybe a zone is needed for some stretches of the game? (10-15 mins of basketball play that is it. Would generate less turnovers but it would be a chunk of gameplay with less fouls) - Less Mellouk/Venning and more Amadasun? (IMO Max has shown an ability to not foul as much as those guys, certainly not as much as Mellouk. And Venning when he gets tired Idk just spitballing They played zone for many stretches of the game.

And they were often out of position. I was shocked. Schmidt stayed in it even when they seemed confused as to where they were supposed to be... 2 people covering the same person at the top and people roaming free at the baseline.
The center stepping out on the screens following the ball handler is killing us. A guard can not defend a center until the center gets back.

Frustrating when players go into "scramble mode" rather than rotating in the Zone as they are supposed to. I am fairly certain that Coach Schmidt will be breaking down the game tape and "re-instilling" the proper zone principles necessary. Offense is always fickle, but Defense has to be stable (Good Defense travels). The sooner we can stabilize on D, the better and more consistent we will become. The Roller-coaster ride continues. Need to avoid the dreaded 1 step forward - 2 steps back pattern. In Schmidt we trust for the "Xs and Os" - the Jury is still out on the "Jimmys & Joes". ** Our Jimmys & Joes resemble Jekylls and Hydes so far - if you can pick up what I'm puttin down.

In the final 5 mins of the game, down 11, we played a superb man to man D. Our D kept them from making a basket as they went 0-6 and 2-11 in the final 8+ mins.
On offense we went on an 11-1 run making 5 of our last 7 shots. In the final 15 secs, had KYRELL finished off the glass or BARRY's great put back opportunity dropped in, the block by HILL on Leggett right at the rim with 44 sec to play would have gained praise as a big factor in the win. With the loss his great play goes unmentioned.
We did tighten up our fouls in the 2nd half. As a result Leggett went to the stripe down 1 with 17.3 to play. He had a 1 & 1 with enormous pressure on the first. The 80% FT showed great relief after making the first.
Having watched the final 5 mins several times I loved the bench reaction when DARYL finished at the rim and gets fouled. ESPECIALLY the reaction of ANOUAR and MOSES mauling each other with hugs.

Wish Anquan was on the floor for the final 15 seconds instead of Barry. Maybe he gets the tip-in.

It's really tough to beat a team that goes to the line 29 times and makes 24. 24 points from the line is tough to overcome. Defense is defense- slide and move your feet, hand in face instead of block, stop reaching in, and why do we not ever box out? Boxing out normally results in a rebound or an over the back-Box Out. I don't understand why they do not know basic positioning. This team shows flashes.

On another note, during every timeout, URI had a carnival barker come out and yell with the volume all turned up. He was very annoying. His noise was unnecessary. URI had a large contingent of cheerleaders who did a great job. Can the carnival barker.
