In Mark we should trust we are the most consistently competitive team in A-10 over what??? the last decade plus?? We have had amazing moments of success and equally amazing moments of frustration...Pick the year/group of players...My take is we have talent & potential however we lack a DOG a true DOG..."GIVE ME THE BALL" "I AM FEARLESS AND WANT THE SHOT" In years past we need a bucket ...Hey Jay, Hey Mobley, Hey Posley, Hey Andrew, Hey Stockard, Hey Houston, etc etc..... Who's that guy on this roster today?? George Mason game clutch time the ball was a hot potato you take it I don't want it pass pass pass pass....Shot clock violation or desperation heave... NEED MORE DOGS.... Mark doesn't take the shots and we had plenty of opportunities to thump George Mason and others however we either miss the bunnies or go into long droughts of no buckets...7 minute- 8 minute stretches plus...I have faith we will get better, we will improve...and again be competitive during A-10... Look at the Rhody Game...we could play with just about anyone in the country that day with the level of Defense & Offense displayed....just gotta bottle it and uncork nightly....Sadly in the NIL/PORTAL world when we finally figure it out we will have to go back to drawing board and start all over again with building chemistry....Last note...GIVE ME MORE SPARK PLUG BARRY he's a dog and when he figures out scoring he will be a junkyard dog...GO BONA's For Life! I agree with this, some of the guys are a little tentative out there. Barry Evans is NOT. Daryl Banks is struggling to find his shot but I dont think he is tentative either. We do need someone to take over in these close games. I'm talking driving the paint, getting fouled or scoring however is necessary

Listen I am annoyed with people saying everyone is scared to play the a10. How? Besides Dayton (bubble teama wins) who did the a10 beat? Villanova isn't have a good year man.
The biggest issue I have is that a10 has become a poor league. Can SBU get in sure. They couldn't lose another game. What does that tell you.

I agree with bonaboy23. He posted "GIVE ME MORE SPARK PLUG BARRY."
I hope to see his 18 mpg increase due to his defense, rebounding and securing the ball.
He is our best rebounder grabbing one every 3.3 mins compared with CHUCK 4.6, ASSA 4.7, CHAD 5.1 and NOEL 10 mins.
Only CHUCK takes better care of the ball (6 all season, one of the best in the nation).
Those are his significant strengths that will benefit us. He will add little to our offense except securing the ball which has proven costly to us late in at least two losses. CHUCK saw him work on his shot this summer and saw improvement. It has not been demonstrated after 17 games 55% FGS (put backs and dunks), 29% TREYS (4-14), 28% FTs (3-8). I expect it will improve somewhat but not to a significant degree. At this point his offense is put backs and dunks. He rarely ever takes it to the hole as evidenced by only 8 FTAs all season. On fast breaks he has pulled it back every time passing off to others.
He handles the ball well in breaks and almost never has the ball taken from his dribble even in traffic. He boasts an impressive 2.3 A/TO ratio. No one grabs a rebound and sends a bullet pass out to an open trey shooter better than BARRY.
His length, agility, anticipation & spark plug nature makes our D better.
I haven't looked at his game efficiency #s but I bet they are very good. Want to see more of him on the floor except when we need a score to win in closing seconds.

2 years ago he did lose the entire team and they have remained competitive. Extra covid year was granted to players not teams- Not sure what you mean by that. anyway. That is great the teams. Yes to players who played on poor teams. Any player or team that didn't have a legitimate shot to make the tournament shouldn't have gotten it.
He had them for four years (last time I checked that is a traditional in college) and they made one tournament and got embarrassed.
11-6 (no quality out of conference wins). I do not know whether its time to move on, but 17 years never made it past the real first round of 32 (winning a real game in the dance). The last few years the a10 has been bad.
Oh my gosh. Why would you move on from Schmidt when he has said he is probably only coaching for another couple years and the best thing about him he is going to help find a replacement that will hopefully keep the team consistent. I get your frustration but he is the most winningest coach in bona history. He brought the program back from a really bad period. He has recruited well and the only reason he's been here for 17 years is b/c he has been so successful- which has helped him bring in legit recruits etc.... St Bonaventure is a very small school and the location is not easy to bring in recruits. To produce a competitive team for 17 years at bona is pretty impressive. If you think some new guy can come here and make a name for himself in a few years and lead them to the sweet 16 is really unreasonable. Be happy that for 17 years the Bonnies have been 2013–14 St. Bonaventure 18–15 6–10 9th 2014–15 St. Bonaventure 18–13 10–8 T–7th 2015–16 St. Bonaventure 22–9 14–4 T–1st NIT first round 2016–17 St. Bonaventure 20–12 11–7 5th 2017–18 St. Bonaventure 26–8 14–4 2nd NCAA Division I Round of 64 2018–19 St. Bonaventure 18–16 12–6 4th 2019–20 St. Bonaventure 19–12 11–7 T–5th 2020–21 St. Bonaventure 16–5 11–4 1st NCAA Division I Round of 64 2021–22 St. Bonaventure 23–10 12–5 4th NIT semifinal 2022–23 St. Bonaventure 14–18 8–10 T–8th last 10 years- 9th, 7th, 1st, 5th, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 1st, 4th, 8th The four years before Schmidt took over for Solomon 2003-04 St. Bonaventure 7-21 2004-05 St. Bonaventure 2-26 2005-06 St. Bonaventure 8-19 2006-07 St. Bonaventure 7-22 Van breda koff 2 years before Anthony the team finished 6th and 7th. Baron built up the program but before that it was not good. So the last 17 years have been pretty successful.

The key to the A-10 nowadays is staying top 4 and getting a bye in the conference tourney and winning the tourney. What do you want st. Bonaventure to move up to some higher conference? ? LOL Atlantic 10 is a great basketball conference that upsets big teams frequently. Just be a UNC/Kentucky/Kansas fan BonnieGUy- it will relieve stress most likely. However, they might not even live up to your high expectations. Go watch another conference the bandwagon will still survive.

is it Schmidt's fault the iron 5 underachieved or was it the players lack of work. Lofton, Osun, and welch all statistically never improved. AdawaY made a huge jump. Most players under Schmidt that have played the full 4 years have made huge developments. Why Osun and lofton did not develop is most likely b/c of work ethic. Adaway showed up, worked hard and really improved.
