Either red HOTTTTT or ice Cold. I have never seen anything like this before. Even Ice Cold nights some shots should fall. How odd. Anyway, Let's go!!!!

A much needed win. It is tough to win on the road in college basketball. If we shoot from the outside well we are competitive most nights. Good to see transition points. Also Schmidt moved off Venning early in the game as 3 ball shooting was good. As someone mentioned the Hawks did not play well defensively as we had open looks and hit them. I know we forced some good turnovers but on the other hand allowed way too many easy layups from missed assignments. We got beat coming back down the floor on defense at least 3 times. Defensive effort needs to pick up and better ball movement needs to continue every game. Schmidt seems to be trying to find a combination of guys who can push the ball up the floor. Always happy with a win.

Shout out to the students last night. Really engaged in the BONNIES play, thought the players especially BANKS fed off this. A little light attendance wise in the reds, but an awkward time on a Friday night contributed to this. Sure is fun when BONNIES play at a high level.

Student Sections Energy last night was best of the season...They were in it start to finish fired up...National TV spot adds to the Energy I am sure....When the Student Section is Frothy/Spicy it gets in visiting teams head...BIG FAN of the 6th Man Section our building. RC could be considered a library sometimes when students not present...Keep it up and continue to find new creative ways to be different and get visiting team distracted off their game. GO BONA'S.... 1 game at a time.

Net moved up 7 spots to 73 on last night's win. Again second behind Dayton.

That was a fun one to watch. A different team at the RC.
While I don't expect them to run the table to get back on the at-large radar (and that's probably what it would take), the conference standings are very bunched up behind Dayton and Richmond - so they are very much in play for a top 4 spot with a strong finish.
I think a reasonable goal would be to finish 7-4 in order to start what would hopefully be a new streak of double digit conference win seasons. That would also put them at 19-11 and needing only one win in Brooklyn for a 20 win season.
I know these are modest goals compared to what some of us were hoping for when the season started, but it seems like we just need to enjoy the ride with this group and hope for the best.
Go Bonnies!

Bonnies started conference play with for 4 of their first 7 games on the road. That might be most road games in the conference to date. Richmond is on top with Dayton and we were within 6 with a min to go at their place. In our 3 conference games at the RC we are averaging 88 ppg. 3 of our next 4 games are at the RC and with the student support we saw last night I like our chances for 3 Ws. However we have seen the inconsistency of this team (loss to Fordham at home) which I hope we can correct. Last night's convincing win will hopefully bolster our confidence and lead to consistency in performances.

Early in last night's game it looked like REYNOLDS (#1 scorer in conf 18.2 ppg) and GREER were unstoppable and could beat anyone with ease 1 on 1. Slashing players were scoring easy layups and the #1 TREY shooting team in the conference was draining TREYS to boot.
Game ends with us holding REYNOLDS & GREER to just 12 pts and team to 6 pts below their average.
We had 4 blocks. The most thunderous crowd cheering one was by 5"10" Luc on a 3-1 fast break. Kid can fly as can MOSES. Glad the students were there to erupt as our bench was celebrating.
This was a close game up 5 at the half (thanks to DARYl's late TREY). Joes took a 1 pt lead with 15 mins to play. We have struggled closing out games. Not last night as we went on a 38-18 run !
Our inconsistent offense showed balanced scoring with 45 in first half and 46 2nd half. Our DEFENSE played a big part in our scoring as evidenced by our 29 pts created by 17 TOs.
Losses have been marred by sloppy ball handling and passes especially late in games. Last night only 6 TOs !!! Stats show 7 but that was holding the ball for a shot violation in final secs of the game.
Last time we had 3 players score 20+ pts in a game was over 6 years ago against St Francis PA.
42 pts came from the bench. We had 46 against Binghamton. Quite a change for Coach Schmidt at Bona.
At the post game presser DARYL and MOSES expressed how their D propels their offense. So true.
Next up VCU. I'm hoping to see the team we saw last night.

I was unable to watch the game or see any reply. Listened to first half on radio. Was there a reason given for Pride playing very little other than Moses and Banks having nice games? And Evans.

Several posters have commented on the BONNIES are a different team at home but wasn’t the VCU game, one of their best games of the year?

He knew he could not stop him with a full head of steam, so you could see Luc timing the block from the backside. He really elevated. Was very happy for Banks. He was all over last night and was just one of those days when everything dropped.

Bigcat - I will try to answer your question. I watched the full game live, plus a replay of the second half and then the full game replay again this morning. That was my way of flushing the memory of the God-awful Duquesne game, in particular the stinker of a first half. So first, I never heard any reason given or the subject even addressed. But Banks was in and producing and Mika was in because he was either healthy or out of the dog house and the offense was producing at a high rate under his leadership right from the start. So I think Banks and Mika got Chuck’s minutes. I think the reason for Chuck’s low production also comes down to some admirable self-restraint. He had opportunities to shoot from deep or drive to the hoop, but he held back. The positive potential reason for that is that he saw that first Moses, then Banks, were on fire and so the flow of the game would’ve improved if he gave up on his opportunities to give those two and Chad more opportunities. I realize that thought would carry more weight if Chuck had more than the one assist he had, but this is no time to start letting facts get in my way. So I think if they used hockey assists he’d have racked up a nice total. I’ll just call it him being unselfish on a night when he realized we didn’t need points from him and instead needed him focusing on keeping Reynolds, Brown and Greer under control. But the direct and truthful answer is that it was not discussed by anyone on the broadcast or by Mark in the post game presser. Look for Chuck to hopefully go off against VCU.

Very interesting final box score. Stats for both teams were very similar. The 1 big difference was points off turnovers, with Bonnies out scoring St. Joe's 29-7. In a rarity Bona out scored St. Joe's on fast breaks 17-11. Bona's bench scored 42 points to just 6 for St. Joe's. My impression of the game. -- Obvious MVP's of the game were Daryl and Moses. With 52 points they scored more than half of the Bonnies points. From the field they shot a combine 19-30 for 63.3% and equally impressive from 3s making 10-18 for 55%. Their combine defense on Erik Reynolds was impressive as they limited him to his 4th lowest scoring game this season with 12 points. Reynolds didn't have many open looks. He attempts 23 shots a game and had just 11 last night. Solid game from Daryl and Moses on both offense and defense. -- Chad has struggled against big centers this season. 7 footer Essandoko and 6'9" Fleming were not a match underneath for Chad. He scored 21 points on 10 of 13 shooting from the field. -- Again Barry had incredible contributions to the team. In 25 minutes Barry leads the Bonnies in rebounds (7) and assists (6). GregMitch states “The MVP of the game tonight was Barry Evans." Difficult to award MVP to someone who scored just 4 points (both were incredible dunks) but to support GregMitch, Barry had the Bonnies best +/- with + 28. Doubt there is another player in the A-10, who deserves more playing time than Barry. -- Kyrell had a much better game than indicated by his stats. Had incredible block of a layup. Reminded me last year of Kyrell blocking a dunk by 6'8" Justin during practice. Equally nice was his drive to the basket and last second he drops it off to Chad for an easy layup. Most of all, Bonnies offense looked a lot better playing more up tempo. Unheard of Bonnies outscoring a team on fast breaks. s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sidearm.nextgen.sites/gobonnies.sbu.edu/documents/2024/1/26/2343946.PDF

In the post game presser Coach Schmidt said that BARRY was his MVP for doing things not showing up in his personal pts column.
His overall affect on the game along with the hot shooting of DARYL and MOSES kept CHUCK watching for all but 12 mins. Coach alluded to that fact and praised CHUCK for his unmatched enthusiasm & cheering from the bench where he stood mostly clapping and shouting support. In time outs he was motivating the players as they headed back on the floor. A joy to watch.

The most impressive stat to me was 23 assists. I watched the game and still wasn't impressed by the speed of the ball movement, but stats don't lie... 23 ASSISTS! WOW!
