If Mark returns the most immediate change is to get rid of that go nowhere weave. It is not conducive to penetrating towards the basket and it eats close to 20 seconds of the 30 second clock which produces some wild and entertaining shots.Secondly is to teach Div.1 athletes to stay in bounds. Agree that guys in portal with 2 years of eligibility should be our recruiting targets. Need staff to bring us players who can produce on consistant basis.Sorry in advance that my spell check is on vacation. I'll just add to what else Schmidt needs to do....teach these guys how to crisply pass and be in a position to shoot. This is not just this year. It was way too often where the guys would catch, but have to take a dribble before trying to shoot. By that time, defender was up in face. I felt that this team actually had some shooters, more so than past teams, so it was very frustrating to watch. |

Mark Schmidt is not going anywhere, so sorry for the anti Schmidt crack heads who continue to pollute this board with their own special advise.
I might add that none of these folks have ever coached one single game at the D1 level in the era of the transfer portal and the NIL payola.
Mark is the very best thing that ever happened to Bona (not Bonnies) MBB, he is the winningest coach in SBU history..........get over it down dogs!!
Mark and his incredible achievements rebuilding a program which was a dumpster fire, with multiple 20 win seasons, and tens of millions of dollars in national media exposure for our small but beloved university..........WTF!

I might add that none of these folks have ever coached one single game at the D1 level in the era of the transfer portal and the NIL payola. I am 100% behind Schmidt...
But why does every player want to leave?
Is he not creating an environment that will inspire kids to stay with the program?
X's and O's are great, but if you can't sell the program or get players to commit we will be rebuilding every year.

I don't think the situation is as dire as some folks think. The last couple of years have been disappointing, for sure.
From what I understand, the Iron 5 indicated they were coming back for their final year but then left for better offers. Left SCHMIDT and Co little time to figure out a difficult situation.
This past season looked good on paper but MAW and PRIDE turned out to be disasters on and off the court and that contaminated the locker room, perhaps a contributing factor to ASSA and BARRY bolting.
SCHMIDT is getting up there in age and likely has lots of money. I can see him giving it another couple of years and then saying pluck it

Bjif, i had a thought when you said get rid of that weave....MAW bring up the ball deliberately, then the weave took a significant amount of the 30 second clock, then a hurried shot, we did better when we had a break. |

All you guys do is bitch and moan about the shitty season you just had with one of the oldest teams in college basketball and now all the sudden u want to act like it was a good season😂😂. Like I said picked top 3 in the league, finished 7th in a 2 bid conference. If you haven’t realized with the ncaa tournament teams selected, NET doesn’t mean shit lmao. AD just stepped down after you declined an NIT bid you wouldn’t even have gotten anyway. This program is the crème of the crop for sure !
