maddie67 said "Talent level was overestimated ..."
It was also overpaid. You'd think 5-year players would execute better offensively but they never looked cohesive all year. See ya!

GRANT's Career 27 pts on 10-15-FGs & 6-9 TREYS was quite a show. His ridiculous banked TREY, as shot clock expired, showed he could do no wrong. It was his day and the DUKES game.
Our -12 pt TREYS sealed our fate.
The DUKES 34% TREY shooting team beat our 38% TREY shooting team outshining us 48% to 25% in BKLYN.
Our inconsistent offense cost us the game.
Great job by the attending Bona fans who could be heard supporting our Bonnies as they never gave up.

If your brother couldn't crack this lineup, then he must suck ... Yeah I kind of want to play this game. If he’s even telling the truth, his brother could only be: Rose Martinez Thompson Luc Nobody else on scholarship has a real PT grind to axe. Evans included. Of those 4, the only guy I’d be disappointed in losing is Thompson. But I can’t imagine he came here a year early, on this team, thinking he could play. In general, this team needs a major re-boot. Only guys I really want back are Brown and Evans. I was terrified to lose Assa last summer, thinking he was a future all conference player, but he’s a bit limited Would like him back, but he’s a complimentary part. I don’t disagree with most of this, but I’ll push back on some with Assa. He, without a doubt, has the best shot of our team. I think the inconsistencies with scoring came because we didn’t game plan volume for Assa. I think he’d be better when we draw up more looks for him, but could be wrong. Will be an interesting offseason for sure…

We were lucky to win the first 2 games so people should be pleased. You could see this team just never jelled on both offense and defense by mid January. Schmidt seemed frustrated by this group. He said that they needed to play better in the interview after the Loyola game. Mark Schmidt knows how to coach but the old formula needs tweaking because things are different today. I agree with Sip on the portal. Everyone on this team is replaceable.

ASSA is too limited as a player coupled with the fact he is a "tweener" not really a PF nor a SF.

Assa is fine, 6’6 with a sweet shot and only a sophomore
If someone like that transferred in we’d be psyched.

When Assa hit that 3 to cut the lead down to 5 with under 3 minutes left - I was screaming for a Time-Out to re-group, set-up the Press, and get our best Pressing group out there. Of course, no Time-out is called and Duquesne walks it up the court - runs down the shot clock to near 2 minutes - Grant knocks down an open 3 - momentum gone ... Bonnies look beaten - nothing left in the tank - game over.
Horrible Offense in the half-court for 5 games straight since we beat Loyola at the RC in February ... So disappointing. I hate to say it - but this may be the last time we get a sniff of reaching an A10 final for a long time.
UGH ...

GRANT was simply spectacular. He is a great player but raised his bar to an unbelievable level!
We have 5 players that shot the 3 ball better than him this season. He was only 32% all year but today he was really feeling it making 67%.

Not to pick on one player for one play, but Holy Crap, CHAD’s turnover after cutting the lead to 4!

When we see BARRY having to take 2 TREYS you know you are in trouble. That said he matched CHUCKS 50% (2-4) as Barry connected on 1 of 2).

Love his shot - he is a DOM Welch clone. Until he develops a better handle and the ability to slash to the rim - he is a good complimentary piece not a "go-to" force.

Love his shot - he is a DOM Welch clone. Until he develops a better handle and the ability to slash to the rim - he is a good complimentary piece not a "go-to" force. Assuming you’re talking about Assa? He’s not on Welch’s level right now. Statistically, Dom was by far a better outside shooter and a better rebounder (look at the advanced metrics there in particular). Assa does have a silky smooth shot (maybe the best we’ve since Prato honestly) but his technique is incredibly slow and totally incapable of being useful against in-your-face defenses that like to extend their man pressure. Assa has a high ceiling, but I’m unsure if he can get there. In my opinion, he has to speed up his form. And he needs to attack the rim a little more. If he does, he could be all conference. His defensive game improved this year. He’s average on the glass. But after watching his lack of progression offensively this season, I don’t think he’ll get there. Just my opinion. Bash away.
