How did North Texas make it? 16-14 overall...0-6 v. Q1, 2-4 v. Q2, 3 Qs losses and a Q1 loss. Defending Champion?

Pitino is kind of arrogant. He's lucky to still be coaching b/c he was involved with several infractions and didn't he do something weird at a Starbucks. Anyhow, he's turning down the NIT to stand up for not making the NCAA tourney with a 20-13 record and 11-9 conference record. The guy is just an arrogant jerk.

Did the Bonnies opt out of the NIT? During the Xavier/Georgia game this evening ESPN posted a graphic of the 20+ teams who declined a bid. Bonas was one of the teams listed. Maybe I missed a post on this forum but I was surprised to see that on the tube.

Maybe I missed a post on this forum but I was surprised to see that on the tube. That’s not a good omen. Probably means we did not have enough interest from the team. Meaning either none of the seniors wanted to play or there are a few more transfers out there.

Chris Moses, I agree. No way would Schmidt nor our admin turn down a bid — especially after the great run 2 years ago.
Very sad. Watching pitiful GA and X teams instead of the Bonnies is disappointing. Most of these kids have zero pride in SBU nor any respect for the history of the program.
Utter stupidity to have the portal open this week. What’s the hurry??

We effectively didn't want to play against GW, SLU, and many other games either. So it’s not much of a surprise we wouldn’t want to play in the NIT. It’s disappointing, but it’s more reason to embrace a reset. Its apparent there was toxicity somewhere. I won’t pretend to know any details. I’ll just hope there were things to learn to help avoid in the future.
