What?! Every player is different and should be evaluated. HOWEVA, players transferring down from P5 schools rarely pan out. Look at the 2 studs from Pitt that landed here. Despite the opinions of the astute talent evaluators on this board both had serious short comings in their games. Both transferred down further and had moderate success at best. Best results are found when a guy proves something at a lower conference and comes to SBU hungry to succeed at the A10 level. Even better results are realized when that attitude is confirmed by staff when player visits and any caveats on a player are fully vetted. Well Duquesne just beat our asses with a big man that transferred down (Mahoric). The best player on our team (Adams-Woods) that got us there was a player that transferred down and 2 of the 3 best players for the best team in the league - Dayton - (Santos & Elvis) are transfer-down players but yeah, crazy talk! “Beat our asses” is extremely strong lol. And Mahorcic kept us in the game with missed layups and general poor post play. There’s a reason he plays 10 minutes and averages 4 points per game.

Adams-Woods, Santos, Elvis, they transferred down, should we avoid players like that?

It just seems players from the power conferences are bigger, wider, quicker, and better shots. That's why they were recruited there in the first place. For example, Banks could shoot foul shots, but he was not a great shot. He came to Bonas' following The St.Peter's miracle team where he was recruited. Had he had been a better shot, he may have been recruited to Rutgers. Just one example.

KC or should I just call you Sunshine?: Which one of us was speaking in absolutes and which one said to evaluate (and vet) each player? For every successful downward transfer you name, I could come up with an equally successful upward transfer. But you’d just change the argument to suit your tunnel vision. And the vetting speaks directly to one of the players you cite. No doubting what he brought to the court. However, the negativity that came down with him pretty much spoiled the broth.

Yes, the staff should evaluate every player they offer a scholarship to. thanks for clarifying!!!

Yeah, I’ll just let the staff do their jobs…then pray that they were correct.

MORE TO COME!!! Get ready to be disappointed with the next group of names in a few days!!!! Scorned brother of someone who transferred (likely Kyrell, who would really be wise telling his family to get off social media/message boards at his next stop). Pay this poster no mind

MORE TO COME!!! Get ready to be disappointed with the next group of names in a few days!!!! Kyrell is a great kid, liked him from the get-go. Glad he came to Bona, and disappointed in the season. I wish him luck, as most Bona fans do. So why don't you ride into the sunset and let us respect your brother, instead of making an ass of yourself.

Regardless of the reliability of the source, he could be right. There is not one of the 5 or 6 guys left on the roster that would surprise me if he shows up in the portal. That's the world in which we now live.
Not everyone who enters the portal is disgruntled. They're just thinking they can get a better deal. Could be money, could be PT, could be for other personal reasons. Some will find what they're looking for, most probably won't. But it won't stop them trying.

We’re just fans on a message board. It’s not us you’re mad at. There’s no need turn it classless on your way out the door.
And if there are more names, at this point, what’s the difference? 2 kids who didn’t play, making them for all intents and purposes the same as a new recruit? Our backup center? Really, that just leaves Assa. Great upside, but what’s the difference? We’re starting over. Starting over with 1 vs none is a negligible difference. And if you’re him, why would you stick around for a rebuild? Frankly it’d be shocking if he did stay at this point.

MORE TO COME!!! Get ready to be disappointed with the next group of names in a few days!!!! Who else is leaving? Makes sense with the news that they didn’t want to play in the NIT

I wonder if any of these players will ever get a degree, at Bonas' or elsewhere.

Makes sense with the news that they didn’t want to play in the NIT Maybe I’m just a chronic worrier, but I have a pretty bad feeling about what will transpire the next few days/weeks. Not because of this lunatic brother. Something just seemed off with this group all season. I don’t think a single player improved over the last year, with the exception of Barry, who is already out the door. But that’s fair to wonder if the group tuned Mark out. They all appeared to still be engaged on the sideline (IE: group was trying to win) but the lack of player progression and the continuous lack of running offensive sets, added to the mysterious MAW benching has me worried. Assa and Noel are the only guys who played that I’m expecting back — but I wouldn’t be that surprised if either hit the portal. Just my two cents.
