Eks “Do I think the AD needs to go, maybe, but please don’t think this was made without coach knowing or being part of the decision.” NLsucks “Why haven't we heard from the 2 million dollar coach? As much as AD Joe botched this the silence from Schmidt is deafening. It's past time we heard from him.”
The above criticisms of Schmidt are understandable. Here is a another aspect to above comments. — Without a doubt Schmidt was made aware of the decision, but it is speculation to say he was “being part of the decision.” Schmidt’s comments after Duquesne game sounds like he wanted Bona in the NIT. Did Schmidt change his mind in the next 24 hours after speaking with his boss? He very well could have, but we do not know. What we know of Schmidt I doubt it. Again this is just speculation, which doesn’t mean much. — Agree it would be great to hear from Schmidt. We need to remember Manhertz is Schmidt’s boss. It is understandable why Schmidt is hesitant to publicly “throw his boss under the bus.”
I also understand frustration with the comment “the 2 million dollar coach.” Last 2 years, Schmidt hasn’t proven worthy of his contract. Hopefully Schmidt can turn things around. Have to admit it doesn’t look good right now, but it is still early.
Something we do not have to speculate about is Manhertz involvement. His “I apologize. We will learn from this and in the future pledge to be more transparent and timely in our communication on issues that matter most to you” is not adequate. Manhertz should be removed as AD.

While this debacle is not an NCAA violation, it does display a lack of institutional control. the illustrious JvBK was run out of town on much less evidence. Send smug Schmidt packing. Congrats on the 18 years of service but his time has come to an end. Meanwhile, he is likely playing the victim and trying to get another raise. I wonder if the admin didn't want to pay the cost to update the NIT banner to include 2024. Sure hope they raise season ticket prices next year! Now you're back in your wheelhouse. Sorry to say, your recent work has been slipping. Too obvious IMHO. But, this is fine, nuanced work.

For all the people here who want a statement Schmidt I say that it is really not his call. He reports to Manhertz. He should have handled this but did not. This job requires a person like many have said that understands the culture and community. Manhertz seems to lack the skill set for this job. We don’t need any DEI controversy either.

John Calipari might be available soon 😂 If that were to be the case, Calipari would be $33,375,000 richer.

The mega millions is over $900 million tonight, so if I win it, the newly founded, “Team Kccgold Collective” will buy out Calipari and bring him to Olean
Schmidt can stay as lead assistant

Chuck, you are a wealth of information and contribute to this board with unbelievable research. I love reading your post all the time, but unless you know something we don’t, I think nothing happens with the Mens team without him being a part of it. I agree with his comments after the game but what about the private conversations on Sunday. I feel that he knew what they had and was okay with the decision. My point is, that the power I think he has, if he wanted to play the team would play. I agree that it is all speculation, which is more reason the AD needs to go! I also think his contract has nothing to do with it and trying to tie that into anything is just reckless. He has earned the contract with his success and one has nothing to with the other IMO. I also agree with some of the comments that people never thought we would find out. I think the people making decisions probable never thought 16 other teams would decline either. My “speculation” 😂 is they thought it was going to be no harm no foul because they were never going to asked. I guess that goes to show you what assuming does!

The salary mentioned in the article is from 2021-2022. At that time, Schmidt made $1.069M.

JvBK was run out of town because he tried to pass off a welding certificate as a HS degree after he was specifically told by the University's NCAA compliance officer that it was not a sufficient qualification. When word got out all over the league, the school self reported and was severely punished. This current AD mess does not compare.

OK....I think this topic has been flushed out.... Maybe not, 15 pages is more than a thumping from the likes of Canisius on home court (UGH)
Any chance we can get back on the rails and focus on the 24'-25' roster??? We have a lot of holes to fill and we would all be best served to do everything we can to find the "unpolished diamonds" "gym rats" "overlooked" "under appreciated" kids that have brought us Bona Glory in the past......
First question "who will be player representatives for us on the roster for campus visits of potential recruits??"

HAHAHA - This one won't end until Coach takes the stand.
Good question regarding the "Player Rep" though ...
