Regardless of his talent coming in, Manhertz fell short in several regards. I wish him the best, but maybe next time he doesn’t actively seek a lesser job less than a year in, and promise massive fundraising numbers that are wildly out of touch with our situation and alumni base.
Manhertz had a really rough few days, but we need to get someone - ANYONE! - in the athletics department that has some kind of public relations experience.
And the head basketball coach, who I have defended over and over and makes an absolute ton of money, completely hung his AD out to dry this week. Especially if he was in on the decision and subsequent lack of communication to his players. Mark could have ended the whole thing with one statement the day the graphic came out. He has clout and meaningful relationships with the community. Manhertz did not.

Bona newspaper "When reached by phone, Joe Manhertz, now former Bonaventure director of athletics, hung up on The Bona Venture." How not to act when looking for employment! Tells you everything you need to know.

The AD’s recent performance regarding the NIT matter was tremendously upsetting and frustrating for all of us. His resignation is probably best for all parties concerned. Given all that, some of the animus on this board is off the rails. The guy messed up and has paid a price. The Franciscans preach charity and much more. Let’s follow suit. The guy has a family to support. I wish him the best. Bonaventure did not work out for him nor he for Saint Bonaventure. The guy is no doubt hurting. Let’s leave him alone and move on. His animus toward Bona alums and our traditions and culture and achievements removes all sympathy for this fellow. He was totally out side of our community from the get go. Just another woke operative on the make. Good bye and good night.

It was time for him after that debacle
I always thought it was weird he came from Syracuse and Duke but couldn’t ever get them on the schedule by the way

Skeller6, Franciscan charity leaves you cold I guess. Regardless, where was our coach during all of this? To date has said squat despite his leadership role with the hoop’s program and being the highest paid individual at SBU. Why is the AD the only sinner here? Your use of the word “woke” leads me to believe you’ve heard the phrase “ fair and balanced” ad nauseum Go grab a cold one at the skeller skeller.

He did misjudge the NIT, but that doesn't make him a bad person. As far as the woke comment. Stick that where the sun don't shine.

Schmidt will let players know Manhertz is gone, on Monday. If all the players haven’t left campus and entered the portal by Monday.

Good Joe Manhertz has resigned he needed to go. There is no guarantees with any season that you are going to win 20 games at St Bonaventure. Joe Manhertz had no right to make a decision like that without consulting the St Bonaventure University. As for Mark Schmidt it’s a wake up call make an another dumb decision like that and your next. You don’t let the players dictate the school of St Bonaventure University what is in St Bonaventure University best interest. Being on ESPN family of network television during the NIT is advertising the school for potential enrollment. Joe Manhertz is a fool he needed to go in my opinion. Go Bonnies! Let’s Go Buffalo
