My point has always been that the 2 million dollar coach was the main decider in the decision to withdraw from NIT consideration. He and AD Joe should have let the NIT make its draw if they selected Bona then Bona should have elected to play the season out. The coach should not have let any team discord affect that decision. The other nonsense about travel and injuries is just that. Bottom line, the coach was wrong and that obviously is hard for a lot of folks to accept. He should man up and explain himself instead of letting Joe be the fall guy.

See my post last night and/or video interview below, an actual longtime Bona reporter J.P Butler with actual sources agrees with you on Schmidt as "primary" decider and that he needs to explain himself.

Can’t get the YouTube interview to play Speaking of j.p. Butler…what is his deal? Part time at the TH…on a top secret assignment?… The Th has dropped from almost adequate to far right annoyance since the Fitzpatrick sold out..? Is it worth a continuing subscription?

What do you expect him to say? " This was one of my most challenging years as a coach. We had a dysfunctional locker room all season and it manifested after the loss to the Dukes when too many players said they are done with SBU hopes and have played their last game. I made the decision to withdraw from the NIT based on that information."

Don't worry about JP, he's doing just fine. I would assume most employees of the TH are now part time. We're fortunate to still have a local newspaper. You're reference to them as "far right annoyance" is a joke but you libs can't handle those with a difference of opinion. You don't like it when the sheep get out of line. Suck it up buttercup. BTW, if Bona's employed more people with JP's dedication to the school they wouldn't keep finding themselves in these situations.

Does anybody think it would have been good for Bonas and recruiting if they went to the NIT with a reduced roster and were blown out by 40 or more?

…probably not a bad idea to extend your vocabulary beyond the word “suck”. Ideally journalists and columnists are not “sheep”……The quality and orientation of the th has dropped under its current management..it hurts the whole area.. not sure a poor paper is is better than none.

An NIT appearance by the Brown Indians would have exposed Bonas to a nationwide audience on the ESPN network of channels.......HTH would that have been detrimental to SBU?
To buy that type of national exposure would have cost SBU hundreds of thousands of dollars, possibly millions.
That is exactly why we collectively (some pay more than others) pay Mark over $1.5M per year, because he consistently captures the national and local sports media attention and exposure. He is worth every single penny of salary by the way.
We beat UCLA on national TV for gosh sakes...........that in itself is a marker on the overall worth of the MBB. Get with it !
