We always play Alfred at home in the first game. If we played at Alfred, our players would get used to a hostile crowd earlier than usual. Otherwise we get little out of playing Alfred. Yes, all five Alfred fans in attendance would make it unbearable.

Returning to reality, I am surprised at the lack of reaction to the A10 schedule being announced. We are playing the same four teams in the league home and home as last year - specifically Duquesne, VCU, Fordham, and UMass. The rest of the league schedule is the opposite of last season - everyone we played at home we play on the road and vice versa. So at home we have Dayton, LaSalle, Richmond and both Georges. So pretty much as it supposed to be, I guess.

Condescension about Alfred…-a top flight small nys university that is world famous for its ceramic engineering program. . It is larger than bona and has a d3 college football program. Coach Schmidt’s sons went there…they had other choices….

They had some great concerts there in the early 80s too. Marshall Tucker - The Outlaws - Todd Rundgren ... Just a short Road Trip for a car full of BONA "Long Hairs" back in the day.

Served 35 years with American Olean Tile.

They lost jay Adams for 5 or 6 games playing Alfred at home. An away exhibition game makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

Assuming part of the OOC plan is to build up the team for playing in the league, going to Albany every other year seems to make sense. Siena typically puts a decent team on the court with maybe a couple A10 quality players to provide a decent road challenge as part of getting ready to go to Dayton, VCU, St. Louis, etc. Add in the Franciscan and New York connections and I get it, particularly if we don’t have a better option (e.g., Pitt, Penn State, Villanova, Providence, etc.)we are passing on to keep playing the Saints home and home. Judging by what appears to be a challenge to get anyone to come to the RC, The H and H with Sienna looks pretty good.

To generate substantial basketball revenue, we should schedule as the first exhibition game the Washington Generals in NYC as I'm sure the turnout would be huuuuggge! That is of course if we can't get the Harlem Globetrotters to play us. Schmidt could learn a few new plays to add to his repertoire.

Although that guy with the stilts will be tough to stop in the post!

operating with fiscal limitations is never easy. Bonaventure can't "raise taxes" to pay for spending on ballplayers. So are they better off "buying games" or "buying players"? And maybe we need to go on the road more often as the recipient of buy games, to afford more expensive players. Tough balancing act

Don’t think Chaney is still alive but he seemed to play anybody anywhere …that could raise the stature of his team…they beat bona about ten out of every eleven games Bringing in unknown teams to the Reilly center to build a winning record doesn’t sound that attractive….How did Gonzaga go from virtual obscurity to national power?

Gonzaga is a terrible example of the point you are trying to make. Only recently have they scheduled tougher. They actually went from obscurity to a national power in part by bringing in "unknown" teams and pumping out winning records for years

I'm open to the idea of adding a buy game or two (under very special circumstances) given the nature of the fiscal landscape as dadster pointed out but you definitely don't want to load up on them because frankly we are very unlikely to win those games. The ultimate goal is to make the NCAA tournament and you need wins for that.
The Cheney at Temple example was like 40 years ago now, the way they pick teams for postseason play is way different. It's a tired, obsolete reference model.
Beating a mid-major at home is better, short and long term, then a little paycheck to get beat by Duke in their house, it just is. And man do I dislike Duke
