NOAH is 21 years old. Feel foolish asking, but how much eligibility does BOLANGA have?

One hopes it is not because another player has gotten hurt or sick or dropped out or declared ineligble...as many have noted, Schmidt never likes to use last scholarship....

Do not think so, heard this “French Phenom” rumor over a month ago but only heard NOAH’s name today. Heard the staff was really high on him.

One hopes it is not because another player has gotten hurt or sick or dropped out or declared ineligble...as many have noted, Schmidt never likes to use last scholarship.... To be fair, Schmidt doesn’t use it for this exact reason — he held it for after the recruiting period and there were very few teams to compete against for this kid’s services. French report said he just decided to come to America to play NCAA not long ago, instead of staying in France. This is why he holds it. This kid played in all 37 games last year and more than held his own for a team that finished 4th (out of 18). Looks like he was primarily used as a floor spacer. But to play that many minutes as a pro at 20 years old — against guys late 20s and early 30s — clearly he can play quite a bit. I’m only making this comparison lightly — but Zacharie Risacher played in the first division last year (Bolanga was in the second division) and put up relatively similar numbers. The point is, to play in these leagues at that young, you’re not a scrub. Dare I say he has an extremely high ceiling. We’ll see how he adjusts to America.

So, players from Europe and elsewhere cannot sign autographs, attend promotional events, generate content, and post sponsorships on their social media. It's wise to recruit overseas. NiL

Agree with atbonnies87 - I always understood that Schmidt “held open” the last ‘ship in case there was an opportunity to add a late signing of someone special when other schools couldn’t because their rosters were already full. I presume the staff sees something special in this “kid” they don’t want to let pass by. Thus I expect he will play a significant role this year. Also, on a team filled with guys who have had little playing experience , adding a 21 year old who has played international ball at a high level for several years should provide a boost, and we could use some more athletic front liners. And from the video, his athleticism stands out.

Lefty who can finish with his right. Good trey stats on catch and shoot as well as creating his own shot. Defensively has good hands and positioning. Sees the court well. Liked his behind the back pass (with his right) in the paint. Lots of fine players in France where he's played pro for 2 years.

He has been playing professionally for the last 2 years. Now he comes to the USA as 21 year old freshman. He will stay one year and look to get paid by the highest bidder after the season.

NiL Oumar Ballo just transferred from Arizona to Indiana. He’s from Mali and his reported NIL deal is ~$1.2M. Not sure the whole international kids can’t get NIL $$$ is accurate anymore
