George Mason lost to East Carolina in OT. Surprised to see that Assa was not a starter for ECU — and he changed his name back to Yann Farell. He’s getting 15 mpg … averaging 4 pts, 3 reb and 25% from deep. Pirates are 4-0. Mason is 2-3.
Maybe he gets an extra year of eligibility if he continues to be Yann? 🫤 Strange stuff.

Bryant, lead by Bonabandwagon darling BARRY EVANS, beats Delaware 85-84. BARRY had 25 points and 8 rebounds. Bryant may be a handful for the BONNIES.

SIP - I trust that Barry will be all jacked up for that game. It will be interesting to see how the home crowd reacts to his return. That being said - we should handle them with little problem. Thinking BONAS by 15 ...

Come the Bryant game, coach Schmidt should be asked about the circumstances surrounding Barry Evans not being a Bonnie today.
Yeah he's a good coach. But I am not forgetting that last year of the purported "Iron men 5" when in several games he didnt do so much as a single sub, and as far as I'm concerned contributed to two home losses that year when his team was too tired at the end to win the game.
This team has excellent talent sitting on the end of the bench not getting in the games for as much as a minute.
I heard his response to the guy at the Lemoyne presser who brought up will he continue to be using 10 and 11 players this year, and Schmidt bringing up about players having to know and accept their roles. I agree that when you're winning every game it's easier to accept your restricted or non-playing time, that accepting it is harder when you're losing. But Schmidt brought all this talent in here. Whatever he said to them to do it. IMO, the obligation is not just on the players to accept their limited and restricted roles. The coach has an obligation to design a system where 10 and 11 players can be meaningfully played every game. That means, to me, playing at a warp speed pace, with presses, trapping 1-3-1s and aggressive man on D, fast break, high speed offenses, with liberal substitution to maintain the level of intensity for the entirety of games. Not saying anyone is guaranteed playing time. But many teams have 10 and 11 man rotations. Chance Moore seems to be a shade above the others, but there is no one on this team that is so great that they have to play more than 30 minutes, including Chance Moore, when you have other players at the end of the bench that are excellent players who are working their butts off in practice, know the system, demonstrated loyalty to the program and play the D. And don't see the floor. I know the transfer portal. But the mass exoduses we have seen the past two years is partly our fault in the way playing time was managed. Games without a single substitution, games with a single sub.
So we'll watch Barry next week and see how he's doing.
And Bonnies 82.5, I predict a nice welcome.

Barry was about money, not PT No the coach is under no obligation to play in your hair on fire style for 40 minutes to satisfy some imaginary minutes played substitution matrix. The Bonnies are subbing more so far than the past ten years, and you have no idea who is grasping what in practice. I disagree with most of what you stated. In fact, I think “yeah he’s a good coach” is the only thing we agree on. I haven’t sat in on a “coach to incoming player” meeting. I’m confidant though, that coach will explain to the incoming player his strengths and weaknesses, and how and what the coaching staff will provide to assist the player. Coach will also explain that there is no playing time promised to anyone. If off court commitments are kept by the player (going to class , keeping up grades etc), then it becomes the responsibility of the Player, in practice, in games if he does get in, to show he deserves minutes. Coach gives ALL of his players that opportunity. It’s very simple. If a player wants minutes,he must,in some way, show that he deserves them. Those that are not presently getting minutes have not, as yet, shown coach that they deserve minutes. That’s on them, not coach.

Maryland leads Canisius 64-14 early in the second half.[/quote Final 108-37. I don't think I have ever seen a D-1 team get beat by 71 points. That was a NET win by Maryland. With 6 minutes left, Maryland was up by 64 and still had their starters in. What a travesty.

Fordham after beating Seton Hall 57-56 in Newark loose the "Battle of the Bronx."
Manhattan was up 4 at the half and pulled away going up 16 with 2:13. Almost blew it winning 78-76.
RUMPLE has been injured.
The JASPERS are 60-55 against their cross borough rivals.

Just watched Duquesne lose at home to Milwaukee of the Horizen League. Dukes go to 0-4. I do think the Dukes new coach knows what kind of team he wants the Dukes to be. They lack a consistent scoring threat and aren’t a good defensively or a good fast break team. On offense they look like a random five guys playing a pick up game offense. No consistency, no plan.they actually had a lively crowd, but not much to cheer about. They could be headed back to the bottom half of the league quickly after their brief stay at the top.
