If you judge Syracuse on whether they play against bona…small sample. I don’t like syr for many reasons, but they gain NOTHING from playing H&Hs with Bona. If you want to argue they should play in Rochester occasionally, maybe, but that’s still a stretch. If Bona was at a level of Gonzaga, then sure, it makes some sense. The Orange have no problem with scheduling and they lose lots of dough for leaving the Dome for more games than they should. They already have conference challenge games and every big OOC tourney wants them. If Bona was ripe with cash, we probably wouldn’t ever play H2Hs with lesser conference teams either.

At Bona's favorite November tourney, the Charleston Classic, Seton Hall knocked VCU from the unbeaten ranks, 69-66 OT, in the quarters.

Bryant, a 12.5 favorite, loses to Stonehill, 67-66.

I listened to the Brian Stonehill game on the radio. I couldn’t find a video feed. It was really a Pretty physical with multiple technical files. I believe Brian was playing a couple players short due to injuries. Their rotation only went seven tonight against Stonehill. I don’t know what the final stats were, but I believe Stonehill won the rebounding battle 50 to 31. Brian went up in the first half by as many as 11 and then Stonehill kept chiseling away. I caught the last seven minutes of the second half and they traded leads probably 1015 times. Brian go to guy was Timberlake a 66 guard who created match up problems for Stonehill. But to their credit, Stonehill hung in there the game came down to free throws, and Stonehill was able to hit just two more free throws than Brian, but both teams down the stretch shot free throws really well. I believe Timberlake was Brian’s top score 15 I wanna say. The Stonehill announcer kept making references to brian’s size. So that rebound differential was more about guys getting position and just wanting the ball more I guess. It’ll be interesting to see what the stats are like. I don’t know that anybody shot all that well from three, but both teams launched a lot of threes. in the end, Brian had 27 seconds left for the last shot. I believe down one. They then inbounded the ball, took a shot. Missed it and then got a call going their way as far as an out of bounds play, that according to the announcers on replay look like it should’ve been Stonehill ball. Brian got the ball with 10 seconds left took another shot. Missed it and then filed the Stonehill player who grabbed the rebound with about a second left. Then the Stonehill player missed both free throws and with point seven seconds left Brian was able to throw the ball the length of the court catch I believe at about the elbow or maybe further out hit a shot that went around the rim and out and that was it. Still think it’s going to be a great game on Sunday against Bryant. Stonehill had a great crowd. Hope we can replicate that.

Niagara lost 76-73 at Kent State. NU played tough and physical vs an experienced, talented Kent team. Purple people battled back from 17 down in the second half. They pulled within one pt with 15 seconds left. Eagles played 6 or 7 guards in their 9-man rotation… and we’re a much smaller team than Kent.
Kent has looked strong most of this season, losing only at #5 Auburn. Eagles were led by Valpo transfer Jahari Williamson (6-3 guard) and Omaha transfer Jaeden Marshall (6-4 guard) who both had 17 pts.
Justice Smith from Lyons is a 6-6 wing/PG who does a lot of nice things for NU. Coincidentally he holds the Mansfield single-game record with 56 pts in 2022. He played at East TN the last two seasons.
NU’s leading scorer and best player (?) Olumide Adelodun came in averaging 15 ppg and 4.5 reb, but only had 7 pts and 3 boards. Did not play well. NU is 1-4 but seems to be improving. They shoot 40% from deep — will be a good test for the Bonnies a month from now in the RC.

I guess I should call this pot pouring night. I watched a little bit of the Bucknell New Jersey Institute of technology game from yesterday and early on. I thought GIT look pretty good but in relative short fashion Bucknell pulled away going up something like 5031 in the first half. Then I thought I’d take a deeper dive and look at the NIT pre-tournament grouping with us Utah, state, North Texas state and northern Iowa. Different conferences, different styles of play on Utah State was simply blowing away the competition there were a couple of good opponents may be, but there was also some questionable competition as they get a little bit further into the schedule maybe we’ll know more, but I think they present a real challenge really good size 7 foot and a couple 611 guys and a 68 240 power forward some guys that could shoot so we’ll have some good competition in there for sure. North Texas, will I watch them beat the Minnesota gophers here 5451 I believe and so they too are a solid team in the case of northern Iowa, we’ve already discovered that they play a competitive game, good coach and I’ve had some decent results this year. So again I hardened back to this notion that we have this cupcake schedule and that’s just not the case after the NIT pre-tournament then we’ll have Providence and then start the A10 season with VCU, unfortunately, I think we play them the beginning of January when students are on break. So we’ll find out more before the A-10 season starts, but I’m cautiously optimistic that if we continue to play consistent defense, maintaining the intensity, can rebound the ball. I think we’ll be competitive in these games.

St Joe’s wins and is 4-1 in Langes six year. II always say that it takes 5-6 years to rebuild a moribund program and Lange is tight on target. Too many teams lose patience and try to reload with coaches. Joes look pretty good.
