I can not wait until I read the Buffalo News article that goes in detail recruit by recruit the violations Oats racked up cheating. You are a state school ranked 17th in the country and brought maybe 50 people to a game an hour away on a Saturday. Pathetic embrassing program. Congrats on cheating your to 15 minutes of fame. When is the article coming out..?

Embarrassing* I'm assuming that last part is cheating your way* to 15 minutes of fame? We cheated? Why is this a thing? Graves picked UB over Akron, how is that crazy to assume? Why wouldn't you pick the best mid-major team that recruits you? Akron is a mess.

UB was obviously the better team on the court tonight, I thought Lofton looked comfortable, and Stockard is doing everything he can. Ikpeze played alright as well as Kaputo, but we clearly don't have the outside threats or the playmakers needed to knock off a top 25 team.
On the negative, everybody keeps talking about how young we were compared to UB, lets look at that carefully.....Stockard- 6th year senior, Kaputo- senior, Poyser- redshirt Junior, Ikpeze- Junior.....those 4 guys were on the floor for the bulk of the game other than Lofton.....so tell me why we make the excuse how young we are compared to them, actually we had a pretty experienced team out there??? Even Chef went prep school and is a sophomore.
Poyser has been a big disappointment in my opinion, he isn't Matt Mobley, or even close to Matt Mobley, and I think that is the big difference.. We have went from Posley, to Mobley, to Poyser....and it ain't even close folks. I think we fell in love with his recruiting stars rather than his college production he showed at UNLV.

Nothing zaps the energy out of a sold out building like a whistle fest. UB was in the bonus within 4 minutes. The double bonus by the 10 minute mark. Credit to UB for asserting themselves in a hostile environment. They will plow through MAC competition. Interested to see how high they can climb in the rankings. Like I said, their success is great for the community. Basketball is an afterthought in this area. I’d like to see that change. As for the Bonnies, they looked flustered. Seemed like they had to work for every bucket. Nothing came easy. Sounds like Melki will be back soon. Hopefully he can provide a boost. This team is a work in progress. Of all the factors in this game, I think the Bulls' defense was the biggest....They impressed me and should be a force in the NCAAs again this year....I think in about 10 games in the RC with this team, we could have won maybe two...Saturday wasn't one of the two. Give them credit. They seem to be a lot deeper than we are talent wise at this point. With LaDarien in the line-up, we might have had a chance, but probably not. Things were close for a while. Then there were some questionable calls that didn't go our way. Osun was called for a "block" on one that I was certain should have been called a "charge" and the foul on Courtney when he was going for the ball should have been called a "trip" on the Bull, if anything. I don't know what Kyle did to deserve a "T"...(If anyone was close to that play and could fill us in I'd like to know) but I found it coincidental that the same ref was seen being "grilled" by Oates a few minutes earlier for a call that went Bonas way when we had TWICE as many fouls called on us already at that point (10 to 5). I am disappointed that Jaylen Poyser did not have a stronger game offensively. The crucial point I thought was when we could have turned a 12 point game into a single digit one when Poyser was given a wide open three from the corner....and MISSED. UB came down the court and countered with a 3 which was a six point swing. I don't think we ever recovered. All in all, however, give UB credit. They were the better team and they proved it on our home court. That being said, I think we will get the ship straight for A-10 play...Hopefully LaDarien gets back soon. Still waiting for Amadi to show that confidence going to the hoop he demonstrated his freshman year in OT vs. VCU when he took it to Mo Allie-Cox on a drive. He has the skill...He just has to learn to be smarter with fouls and then stronger with his play around the hoop.

Not the reason we lost, but those refs were horrible. It’s like they didn’t know a charge was a thing and had the block call ready to go. No idea what lofton did or said for the T, but Stockard got hit in the face with an elbow from Harris at least once (no call).
Difference was 3 point shooting, plain and simple. They shot the 3 well and we didn’t get enough attempts off. We had very few easy buckets and UB made us work for our shots.

Coach S B U, while driving to the basket LOFTON was grabbed on his shoulder and it altered his shot enough that he missed. Another BONNIE got the rebound and put it in. As LOFTON turned and ran back down court, he passed in front of the white ref(the one that called the charge STOCKARD drew at the Syracuse game last year) and yelled something at him. The ref immediately "T" ed him up. That was a good crew but not their best effort both ways yesterday.

Another observation from yesterday, when the BONNIES ran their half court offensive weave, it seemed time and time again, the ball handler was dribbling too far away from the guy setting the screen allowing the defender to stay on top of them thus limiting what they could do with the ball.

Credit to UB, as I thought the two defenses were the difference. Bonnies allowed way too many open perimeter shots in the first half, and the Bulls didn't leave many open for us. When Bona finally stepped up the D in the second half, they were able to get back in the game.
Poyser hasn't been a complete disappointment, but yesterday he didn't impress. Both Stockard and Lofton were able to create their own shots and get some hoops. Kaputo is a good shooter but only with wide open looks. The half court offense was stagnant at times. All in all I thought they proved that they could hang around with a Top 25 team as long as they played solid defense.

From a purely entertainment view - more times than not the referee crews at our level kill the game with the volumes of calls they make against both teams, It is rare to see flow up and down a court instead we see constant stop in plays with many key players heading to the bench due to foul trouble. A team is in the bonus by the 5 minute mark? and double bonus by the 10 minute mark? In a game not overly physical at all

Nathan Farrell giveth and Nathan Farrell taketh away.
The T on Kyle was expected and probably deserved. As described above, he said something to the ref.
UB—- they’re really good. Better than us at nearly every position last night and could probably win the A10 this year. Hopefully this is Oats blowing his load (tons of good seniors) but I think Williams and some other young players could bother us for years to come unless Oats (and his staff) book it after the season. I can’t speak to any current recruiting violation (and wouldn’t post details here if I could), but I get why there are questions: you (as a program) go from Zach Filzen (chucking 3s) and Jaryn Skeete, to 4-star baller U after two coaching changes. Granted Newark’s McRae was a ??, but he was the only one up until now.
The Hurley/Oats effect is real. Reggie is probably like “sshheeiittt, with this roster I would never need to stand during a game.”

Although his stats may not have reflected it, I thought PERKINS was a force in the paint. Especially when AMADI was on the bench. I wish the BONNIES had another wide body to bring in with IKPEZE' s propensity to get in foul trouble.

The game did mean much more to UB than to Bona, and that can't be dismissed. Their Syracuse game this year will also mean a lot more than our Syracuse game this year. It's not just hatred on the line this time in either of these games for them.

Reggie is probably like “sshheeiittt, with this roster I would never need to stand during a game.” It’s the classic situation of a specific coach, Hurley, coming in and recruiting some great players. Oats had carried that over and has Hurley’s team. Over the next few years they will revert to the norm unless they are able to join a stronger conference. But, like us knocking off cuse last year, we will lose to them occasionally.
