Woods also looks to be open alot down low only wish teammates would pass him the ball.

Just got home to Rochester from the game. A couple of observations: - Olean was covered with a beautiful snowfall. Just enough to make it pretty, but keep the sidewalks and roads clear. - smaller crowd, but they got into it with 5 minutes or so left, with the players leading the crowd. - Tyson took a step backwards tonite. Was manhandled under the boards, and really looked out of place. Hopefully a good learning experience for him. - Nelson K struggled tonite also. Faced some guards that were as quick as he was. - Rhody played tough D, especially on 3 point shots taken by our guards. - as a lot of fans already pointed out, it was a bell curve. First few minutes you thought it was going to be a blow out, then Rhody fought back. We stopped boxing out, and Rhody seemed to score a zillion points with put back shots. Then Denzel turned into Superman, and we won the game. - Can't wait for my next trip down 390 and 17.

A learning experience for both Tyson and Kaputo. Woods did not look out of place, but as another poster said "needs to hit the weightroom".

rouet16...I second your praise of Dion & the 2nd half adjustment.
Martin is a beast inside & by far the best shot blocker in the conference. But tonight Dion, not known for his blocking skills, had 3 stuffs to Martin's one.
Dion's 11 boards & defense were big factors in the win.
Team defense was special tonight. Defending the TREY has greatly improved this year & is one of the bset in Conference. Tonight they held a good URI trey shooting team (36%) to 32%. Then holding them scoreless over that last 3 plus mins & creating 2 TOs was impressive.
When was the last time the Bonnies ever had 8 blocks in a game. The D really stepped up with one exception!
We are really having problems giving up lots of offensive rebounds. Tonight it was a 14-7 advantage for URI. This is a problem area that we must address.
Another defensive flaw is allowing easy baskets on inbound plays. It has become a pattern I would like see ended.

I don't know what kind of defense it was, maybe some of you experts here know, but I noticed Rhody would double Adams behind the 3 point line. Then Adams would swing it to Posley and they would swing over and double him sometimes! It was somewhat effective but it gave space for Dion, Taqque, and Gregg a lot and........ They made them pay!

Please read the article. I might have to hate Hurley a little less - he says some gracious things. Although it's probably in thereto motivate his guys you have to love the comment about Denzel outperforming his own "top 50" kids through development and hard work.
*edit - I see Copenhagen referred to the same quote in the "Denzel" thread several hours ago.

I noticed the quick doubles on Posley. RI was definitely keying on him, which is probably the one smart thing you could say Hurley did. I would have liked to see a little better passing out of the double teams. Quicker ball movement out of those might have given other guys cleaner looks at the hoop.

I think you nailed it "5and23". I had not seen Rhody play. I just assumed they double out front. If this is not their normal "D", I have to credit the Rhody players, because they did a great job. I can remember only a couple of good looks for either Adams or Posely. Credit goes to our players/coaches for how they adjusted to a "D" that they may not have expected.

Woods also looks to be open alot down low only wish teammates would pass him the ball. somebody posted that denzell gregg was the most athletic player on the team...i say keep your eye on derrick...if he develops as i hope he will, don't be surprised to see some pretty impressive stuff from him before his days at bonas are over...

The fellas are finding different ways to win. A scratch and claw triumph like this can go a long way.

Some morning takeaways from our student contributor here- thebonablog.com/2016/01/14/takeaways-bonnies-make-winning-plays-to-down-uri/Agree with the last few posters on here that lots of credit has to be given to Schmidt and company for finding a way to win this game. URI takes away scoring guards better than anyone in the league and we found a way to win without Jay and MP's best nights by a long shot. Schmidt doesn't get enough credit for in-game changes but he found a way to score enough last night to get the win. Also, the Bona defense was as strong as it's been in a while. Let's just hope Saturday is not a let-down game. We know exactly what to expect down there but we need to come away with another W. www.thebonablog.com
