Sorry, phelps, I probably shouldn't have done it. But the irrational exuberance that's been permeating the board over the last few days finally got to me.

Res, I stand corrected on a “Major” program even though Mount St Mary’s has seen 2 more NCAA D1 Tourneys than us in the past 30 years. Thanks for calling it out. I have the utmost respect for The Mount, but let’s make it clear that all NCAA bids are not earned in an equal manner. Winning a one-bid league’s tournament is great, but it’s nowhere near as challenging as earning a bid from a top 7 or 8 conference. Northwestern has only been to one NCAA Tournament EVER, yet I doubt they are yearning to trade spots with Mississippi Valley State.

We have a long way to go before we can compare ourselves to Gonzaga when it comes to results and postseason. should be the goal though. And I will never belittle another man associating us with them because to get where you want to be you use confidence to gain the influence necessary. We are closer to modern-day Gonzaga than we are to the post-scandal Bonaventure days anyway. The proverbial "corner" has been turned. No going back I hope so, if the wagon is calling us a “national power” after grabbing a 2 star recruit and winning a NCAA tournament game what do we call the brand if they get to the sweet 16? Blue Blood or is that to conservative?

Poyser was the 4 star in last years class. Not sure what site has lofton and alpha as 3 stars. For perspective Gueye had a higher rating last year than Melki. All I'm saying is on paper last years class was higher rated. However, this years class definitely deserved more stars.

Chuck does a good job of comparing the last two recruiting classes. Of course, there's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip as evidenced by Ndene's disappointing play. Poyser couldn't play until this year, so not much will be gained from his transfer until this year while Brockington was only a brief shot in the arm for us. Chef shows great promise, but we don't start reaping much of the reward until this year. So last year was good, but its real value still lies in the future as our newly committed talent joins the team. The Bonnies are coming off three 20-win seasons and are sending two new alumni to NBA tryouts. As Dylan said, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, but the view of this program from 30,000 feet looks good to me. Sorry for all the metaphors, but I'm in a literary state of mind.

Great analysis Chuck and I agree wholeheartedly, but you also forgot Bobby Planutis. If we count Jalen for last year, we also have to count Bobby for this year, and I recall one site that showed him as a Composite 2 star after his prep school year. So you really have three 3 star Freshman between 6'3" and 6'6", the 79th ranked Juco, a 6'8" 2 star transfer (who can shoot the lights out), and a 6'10" prospect with such incredible upside his offer sheet was better than the rest of his fellow recruits. In a year or two, I see a long lean team, that spreads the floor and shoots the lights out, or opens up the middle for Osun. The thought is enticing.

I go with the incoming class of 1978 - Earl Belcher, Bart, Turk182 and myself. Not overly heralded, but we went to the NCAAs, beat SU twice, and hosted Bruce Springsteen during our 4 years.

No, except for Earl, that class was way over-rated. Even Springsteen was unheralded at that time, with Born to Run just coming out.
