Bona history in concert realm is not as good as in basketball. Things have devolved to the point of ...no concerts of any note.no pun intended. I remember reading about an incident with the amazing Gallagher it’s kind of an embarrassment, not humorous or inconsequential.

However, I remember friends being perplexed about why she walked off stage. As I recall the reports, she said "I've never seen such disrespect for a performer." She walked off stage and that was the end of the performance. Trivia: Dionne was first cousin to Whitney Houston, and so was Dee Dee Warwick.

It’s no coincidence that this class comes following last year’s historic season. The impact of the win over UCLA can’t be understated. It put the Bonnies on the National map. It’s amazing the levels that Schmidt has steadily brought this program to.
Went from laughingstock to respectable. Respectable to competitive. Competitive to a contender. And now I legitimately ask - Who’s future looks brighter in the A10?

The story was (not sure it's totally true) she was angered about her trip to Olean, and also the instruments that the band had to use weren't up to their standards. One of the best concerts that probably nobody remembers, was Bona's bringing in the Ronnettes (famous at the time) in 1965. There was no RC at the time, so space was rented at Archbishop Walsh h.s and the Ronnettes performed there to a smaller than usual Bona's crowd. Some concerts at that time were held at the Olean Armory (home court of the Bonnies).

I went to a BNL concert in the early 2000's and I recall them mentioning not throwing kraft mac, but that they had bins for it to be donated to the food pantry. Nothing compares to the RC/UC Gordon Lightfoot Concert at which he stopped the show to complain about rowdy drunks making too much noise during his performance. Promptly followed by a shower of empty beer cans cascading onto the the stage. GL walked off to the cheers of the assembled multitude. Just hilarious! What the heck? How many performerrs walked off at Bonas? I was there in '86 for spring weekend when Don McLean basically did the exact same thing as BLN and Lightfoot - during American Pie.

Actually the Don McLean concert was in 1987. Someone hit his guitar with a beer can and he walked off stage. He never got to American Pie. He was yelling at the crowd the whole night because all they wanted to hear was American Pie. It wasn’t a pretty sight and Spring Weekend never seemed the same after that...... .

I am 90% sure it was 1986 (there is a 10% chance I was there both years), and I am 100% sure he got to American Pie. He had stopped things early and told people if they wanted to talk and stuff, go down to the bars.............Then, he stopped it when beers were flying all over, and one came up on stage, and said he'll leave it if happens again.........The whole time everybody had been yelling American Pie, because his mellow songs were not what was wanted after a rocking cover band had played before him..............as soon as American Pie started, the place went nuts and beers were flying all over, and one hit the stage or him and he said that's it, and they just walked off the stage............All everybody wanted was American Pie, they finally got it, and they blew it!

No wonder so many entertainers turn to drugs. I heard McLean do American Pie in Morgantown in the early 70s. He was the warm-up for Bill Cosby.
