I go with the incoming class of 1978 - Earl Belcher, Bart, Turk182 and myself. Not overly heralded, but we went to the NCAAs, beat SU twice, and hosted Bruce Springsteen during our 4 years. No, except for Earl, that class was way over-rated. Even Springsteen was unheralded at that time, with Born to Run just coming out. I always loved the plack to comemorate his concert which hung in the RC Rec room: Bruce Springstein

We are completely off topic, which is great because discussing concerts at the RC is one of my favorite recurring topics on this board. From the sound of it, Bruce Springsteen may have been one of the best concerts at the RC. The Bare Naked Ladies concert in 96 or 97 was not.
The lead singer of the Bare Naked Ladies started the show by giving everyone a stern lecture -- telling the crowd that if anyone throws a mac n cheese box in the air or anywhere near the stage that they'd stop the concert immediately. Well, not surprisingly as soon as the band starting playing "If I had a million dollars" someone threw a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese box in the air, and the lead singer stormed off the stage. The band looked embarrassed and played on without him for about 10 minutes and then stopped and stood there in bewildered silence for 5 minutes. The group I was with decided not to wait around and left and went to the Burton to watch the end of the Buffalo Sabres' game. Have no idea how the remainder of the concert went, if at all.

Dan Hurley was there and he picked up the box of mac & cheese from the ground, gesturing to the authorities

Amazingly I have never heard that story before. BNL are usually light hearted and have a sense of humor so that is surprising. Didnt someone throw a boot at the Live lead singer one year?

Marchabroda was awesome that game 🔥

Best concert ever, surely you were not at the Weird Al Yankovic concert, which was my first concert ever, as a child in the 90s.

Exactly the point, recruiting rankings can be all over the place and completely wrong. I really hope Gueye and Melki are not equivalent. If you look at the rankings on Verbal commits website, last years signing class looked better on paper. Lofton and alpha both only 2 stars. Brockington was a 3. I think we can all agree that Brockington was closer to a 3 than a zero star. We could discuss rankings all day and never reach a consensus. This is an exciting looking class with a very high ceiling, time will tell how good a class this truly is. Would be really happy with an NIT bid next year after losing Adams and Mobley.

As we discuss each of the 6 recruits, of which 4 are true freshman, one fact that has not been discussed is the experience that each brings to Bona's.
Both Osun and Dominick both played 1 year beyond high school, preparing them better for the rigors of college ball. Kyle brings similar experience gained by the intense program offered at Putnam Science Academy (I am not sure if his year at PSA was his 4th or 5th year). Alpha has less experience than the others, as his senior year was cut short 1 semester, so he may not be as well prepared as the others. Bobby will have 3 years under his belt before he dons the Brown and White, his prep year, his year at the Mount, and his "sit out" year, so I expect minimal if any learning curve. Melki's 2 years at JC should have him ready for the rigors of Div 1 almost immediately.
So with the experience that they have had, some of the normal freshman learning curve should be reduced, and they should gain meaningful minutes early in the season. It will be fun to watch the development of these kids

Big deal, Bruce Springsteen! I saw John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band pretend they were Southside Johnny pretending to be Bruce. So there.
I did get 10,000 Maniacs just before the Wishing Chair was released. And the Romantics. I skipped James Taylor and was working at the Burton the night of the abridged Don McClean show. The comedy shows were the best...Franken &Davis, Robin Williams. Also there was a show billed something like "3 NY Comics" It was Fred Stoller, Dom Irrerra and for the life of me I can't remember the third but something tells me it may have been Seinfeld. Does anyone remember that show and who the 3rd comic was?? It was probably '84 or '85.

Would be really happy with an NIT bid next year after losing Adams and Mobley. In theory, I would be happy, too. Unfortunately, the "modern" NIT is a difficult tourney for a team like St. Bonaventure to get into. Keep in mind that there are now 34 Division 1 conferences, all of whose regular season champions automatically qualify for the NIT. Last year, 25 of those conferences were one-bid leagues for purposes of the NCAA tournament. Of those 25 regular season champions of one-bid leagues, only 13 went on to win their conference tournament to advance to the NCAAs. The other 12 lost and went to the NIT. That left only 20 NIT at-large slots to be allocated among the remaining 9 multi-bid leagues. Fifteen of those went to P6 schools. Of course, those numbers change from year to year but they are indicative of how few spots are actually open to schools in the A10, AAC, Mountain West, etc. In practice, you've got to be on or near the NCAA bubble to have a reasonable chance of securing an NIT bid. And I guarantee you, if Bona end up being a "first four out" or a "next four out" this coming season, not many of us will view the NIT as a pleasant surprise.

Stay the course. Get that league double bye again. Go farther, aka win it. Secure a 2nd straight NCAA bid. Avoid Dayton. Win two rounds.
This past year's squad provided the blueprint. How quickly this new Bona edition jells in nonco play will be key.

Nothing compares to the RC/UC Gordon Lightfoot Concert at which he stopped the show to complain about rowdy drunks making too much noise during his performance. Promptly followed by a shower of empty beer cans cascading onto the the stage. GL walked off to the cheers of the assembled multitude. Just hilarious!
