Forget about religion or gender, take a look at her job performance. What was the number of Jandoli School students when she became dean? Compare that number with that of when she left the position. Look at the lack of advancement in facilities and curriculum during her tenure as dean. Further, look at the number of esteemed alumni who cut ties with the Jandoli School out of disdain for what was going on under her watch. This woman very nearly destroyed our proud Journalism School - that fact is undeniable. The reason that she was demoted should quickly become clear when the facts are studied - and it has nothing to do with lifestyle choices.

That's what I find even more interesting. Suing ones current employer is precarious enough as it is. Doing so in a manner in which a period of potentially bad press will be brought to your employer simply seems to not be in ones best interest. buffalonews.com/2019/06/06/angry-confused-and-hurt-wicca-professor-sues-st-bonaventure/Seems Prof. Hoffmann offers a pretty good off ramp to this dopeyness from the Bona admin, they should take it. "Perry and Korn said their client is seeking a remedy that could range from monetary damages or diversity training to a more creative "symbolic apology." Korn mentioned a donation to an organization advocating religious tolerance as one example."that sure is weird. who sues for an apology??? I say take her up on that offer and be done with it

Those are all obvious reasons she should have been and ultimately was demoted. Unfortunately the Admin chose to ignore any and all absolutely basic HR good practice. So now we have this. Fortunately it looks like her lawyers suck. Who takes on a case with a client who would accept an apology? Hopefully she gets her apology and the suit is dropped. This woman stinks beyond being a proud witch. A lawsuit for an apology....my god what a passive dweeb. Thank god she is not running any department anymore.

Unfortunately the Admin chose to ignore any and all absolutely basic HR good practice. We don't know that's the case. That's merely what she is claiming. Fortunately it looks like her lawyers suck. Who takes on a case with a client who would accept an apology? Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. They interviewed two different attorneys for this article including the named partner of the firm. The fact that these attorneys would take the time to speak to the media is pretty telling. This sounds more like a case a firm takes on only because they need some marketing and they know the wiccan headline will get people to take notice of them which might drum up some business. You mention them accepting an apology but it was very curious to me that both lawyers mentioned "diversity training" as an acceptable remedy. That was until I noticed that the attorney who heads the firm also operates a "Diversity Training" business which shares an address with her law firm...

Lindy Korn and her firm are a known commodity in the western New York legal community and, in particular, the labor discrimination arena. Obviously we can’t speculate on the relative merits of Prof. Hoffman’s case, but her attorneys aren’t hacks.

I can’t wait to see where this thread goes. At least there was mention of Coach Schmidt, and a new arena, so I guess the thread qualifies to be in the SBU Sports Board?

I remember reading Roald Dahl’s “The Witches”. Does anyone know if Schmidt assigns books to his players like Phil Jackson used to? There will be a new weight room built soon.

She was a trash dean who nearly crashed the j school into the ground. I highly highly doubt her claims. How she ended up in her position with virtually no journalism experience always baffled me.
To give you an example of how large of a piece of standing garbage Pauline Hoffman is: in 2010 the news program I was working for at the time was slowly converting to HD and was looking to donate all the old sd equipment which was still very valuable and better than what the school is still working with at this very moment. I asked the EP if I could offer it to bonaventure. He said yes and so I sent hoffman an email to offer it. No response. I ran into her at the hellingers that year and she said she didn’t receive any email from me but that the school would love to have the equipment. I gave her my business card... no response.... Even if she didn’t want the equipment it’s generally a bad policy to completely ignore an alumnus offering assistance.
Our EP got frustrated and finally just sold the equipment to a local news station.
I could write an essay on how awful she was as the dean of the j school but John Hanchette would probably lay into me for boring my readers. I hope they fight this lawsuit. I hope they win; and I hope they finally kick this lazy slob off the payroll.

Myself and other journalism grads could hardly understand how she got the job. The professors I spoke with were equally baffled.... worse yet.... why she remains. Another mess Carney left for the current administration to clean up...

EDIT: Forgot to mention the accreditation and new majors!

Absolutely correct - the politically correct madness of it all - hiring an underqualified Wiccan of all things.....at a Catholic and Franciscan university - only the Fort crew could pull that off. Pathetic

Sister Margaret and the Fort crew had a weird, ultra-liberal, "politically correct" spin on their approach to running SBU. Their on- campus mosque, branch campus in India and underqualified Wiccan Dean initiatives really hurt SBU. Thank goodness for Dr. DePerro and his level headed management approach. Also thank the Board for finally getting its act together.
